I started training at Zanshin Kai on Easter Sunday 1997 and have been an admirer of the clubs attitude to all aspects of karate and the open nature of the instructors and students since. No forced monthly contracts, no 2 year black belt program for kids, just clear, consistent training based around 35 years of getting better with the best Karate Instructors / Martial artists in the world. Still eating those crisps?

Started Karate at the age of 16 and was hooked right away, after 7 years of training had to give it up due to a location and life change. 27 years later a Karate club started in my local village who were students of Sensei Davis. Although it was a small class i could see the enthusiasm for Karate. Thanks to Sensei Davis, Glen, Bell, Loney and all at Zanshin Kai 5 years after joining I made it to 1st Dan and still have the hunger for another one. Great club, great people what more can be said.

My karate career started as a way to keep fit during winter for cycling in the summer. My then 7 year old son wanted to give it a try and I thought I could keep him company. 15 years later I'm still at it and the whole family is now involved. So yes I enjoy it (a lot!) but it's also the atmosphere in the club, the friendliness of it, and the fact that adults can train at the same time as their kids that has made this the thing that we stick at.

I started training with Zanshin Kai 10 years ago with my husband and sons, then aged 6 and 11. I had never done any martial arts and didn't have high expectations of myself, as a middle-aged unfit woman. I'm now a black belt (1st Dan) my sons have both graded to 2nd Dan and my husband is a 4th Dan. I'm so proud of them all. All of the teachers (sensei) are excellent, challenging and encouraging as necessary. The club is wonderful for families and gives a great chance to have fun with your ki...

I can't speak highly enough of Zanshin Kai. The members span a wide range of ages and abilities, from absolute beginners to some exceptionally experienced martial artists. Everyone is made welcome and solid friendships are made. Whether you just want to get fit, pick up a new skill, learn self defense or just get out of the house and do something, the Zanshin Kai family will welcome you.
