Saunton Surf Hire

Popped in today to rent a board last minute - as I'd left my own longboard back in barnstable - decided to try a shortboard because I've always been interested in try them out. Unfortunately the ginger guy who brought out my board was super judgy about the short board being for me. Very much gave the impression that I wouldn't be able to handle it. Pretty gutted with our experience one day. The guy behind the counter was so rude. Lucky if I’ll ever spend a penny there again. Point proven with reply there. I wasn’t even the one that spoke.

Really great shop, i was struggling with my 10 foot, 16 fin twin rail which lost boyancy after hitting a fleet of jelly fish. Luckily Matt was on hand to offer not only expert advice but also get my bull thrashing around the waves again. If you need hire or anything related to surf get yourself down there and give him a shout. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Really awful customer service. Rented surfboards over the summer and we went to get them they had sent out the board we reserved so we had to use different sizes and more recently I bought a (very overpriced) pair of boots from them. Took them back less than 12 hours after purchase to be told there is no refund policy (says a lot about the management of a shop, when there isn't even a refund policy in place). I have never experienced such poor customer service where they watch you buy a pair ...

Embarrassingly I needed help attaching a leash to a board. I met Matt and Ben outside the shop and they were incredibly kind, attaching the leash (I needed to knot it - hence embarrassment!), And helping me with the fins. They were very encouraging. When we progress to proper boards I will be buying them here. They are lovely people.
