Purbeck Gundog School

I have been taking my dog to classes at Purbeck Gundog school since he was a puppy. We still love going. The classes are well structured and offer a great base of training for all dogs, not just those who are working dogs. Trainers are understanding and fair, their love for dogs and helping others is obvious. Would recommend and if/when I get another dog I will definitely bring them along too. Did the 6 week puppy class with my spaniel and really enjoyed it, learnt a lot too.

I popped along with my 12 month old spaniel on a Sunday beginner/novice class. A very warm welcome and friendly staff & dog owners. Sandra took 6 of us off for our hour. I havn been home schooling pup over the last year, and just one of the pointers I was given was worth the £10! We shall see you again soon.

Some very good training tips, but the sessions cease to be fun when your dog is smacked on the head by the trainer, causing it to yelp. The dog is young and was excited to see the trainer again after many months of lockdown, that was her only ‘crime’. Hitting a dog is NEVER justified and this isn’t the first time she has been badly treated by this trainer. Really understand Spaniels and have a large loyal following of all gun dog types. You don’t need to want your dog to go to shoots but the general training in discipline is working wonders with our young boisterous spaniel. Highly recommended .
