Hanningfield Waterside Park

Nice place. Good day out. Lovely restaurant there too. Only issue we had was that it was full of rude Europeans (i say this because every person who was fishing that day was genuinely rude towards us and they were all from europe). And one of them got kicked out by staff as he caught double the limit. Some how they were catching load of trout while we hardly caught much. But good outcome was we got a share of his catch as they confiscated the lot...lol Nice staff. Been there a few times now. ...

Nice place to take a walk in the small forest / nature reserve. Plenty of trails and close to the water. You can't take dogs or cycle. Discovery visitor centre at the end of the walk serving hot and cold drinks and food. Or use the main centre which serves breakfast / lunch and main meals. Reasonable prices and easy to access for everyone. No parking charges. Friendly staff. You can spend a good hour walking here and then a few hours eating and drinking. Hidden away in the countryside. Great place fo fishing, especially in good weather. I enjoy coming here in summer, when is nice and sunny, get a best tan and catch some big trout. Tackle shop well stocked with everything you might need. Water seems to be clean, not like before covid. Well stocked with fish. I cant remember days when i havent caught trout in this lake, its almost guaranteed. Good luck, have a go.

Lovely for woodland walking. In springtime the woodland floor is carpeted with native bluebells. The reservoir is popular for water birds and fishing. It can get popular, especially at weekends and Bank Holidays. Entry to the car park can get restrictive. There needs to be a better one way system in place.

We often visit this park as it is a loverly place to walk. The views across the reservoir are spectacular. We also use the restaurant which has indoor and plenty of outdoor seating. Both seating areas have views over the reservoir.
