5. Legal and ethical challenges in acute and critical care settings
6. Decision making, professional judgement and emotional resilience
Course Objectives:
1. Recognise Early Signs of Deterioration: Identify subtle changes in vital signs and clinical indicators that may indicate an individual's deteriorating health status.
2. Assess Severity and Urgency: Develop skills to assess the severity of an individual's condition, differentiate between urgent and non-urgent cases, and prioritize care accordingly.
3. Initiate Appropriate Interventions: Learn to initiate appropriate interventions, including basic life support measures, administering emergency medications, and calling for assistance when needed.
4. Communicate Effectively: Develop effective communication skills to convey critical information to colleagues, healthcare providers, and patients during acute situations.
5. Collaborate in a Team: Understand the importance of teamwork and coordination in acutely unwell scenarios, and practice effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
6. Maintain Patient Safety: Prioritise patient safety while delivering care in rapidly changing situations, and consider infection control, patient comfort, and ethical considerations.
