Course Overview:
The Buccal (Oromucosal) Midazolam Competent Reviewer / Assessor Training is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary to assess and review the administration of buccal (oromucosal) midazolam for the management of acute prolonged and repetitive seizures. This specialised course aims to equip healthcare workers with the expertise required to ensure safe and effective administration of this medication in various healthcare settings.

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Knowledge of epilepsy, seizure first aid and emergency medication training as recommended by ESNA 2019
Principles of the safe administration of Buccal (Oromucosal) Midazolam following TEPAM
Principles of constructive feedback and making an evidence assessment decision
Promote safety and explain how to raise concerns, if they feel that there is inadequate knowledge and failure to follow the protocol for the safe administration of Buccal (Oromucosal) Midazolam.
Course Format:
The course will encompass a combination of interactive workshops, hands-on training, case studies, and competency assessments. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experienced instructors, collaborate with peers, and practice the skills / techniques taught in a controlled environment.
Assessment and Certification:
Participants will be evaluated through written assessments, practical demonstrations of buccal midazolam administration, and competency assessments.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification as a Buccal (Oromucosal) Midazolam Competent Reviewer / Assessor.
