Course Objectives:
1. Recognise the importance of stoma care: Understand the significance of proper stoma care in maintaining patient comfort, preventing skin issues, and promoting overall wellbeing.
2. Learn about different types of stomas: Familiarise yourself with various types of stomas, including colostomies, ileostomies, and urostomies, and their indications.
3. Acquire skills in stoma assessment and hygiene: Develop hands-on skills in assessing stoma condition, ensuring proper hygiene, and choosing appropriate stoma care products.
4. Understand peristomal skin care: Learn techniques for protecting and caring for the skin around the stoma to prevent irritation, infection, and other skin-related complications.
5. Address stoma appliance selection and application: Gain knowledge about selecting and applying stoma appliances, ensuring proper fit, leak prevention, and patient comfort.
