Forge Bakehouse

Gorgeous lunch spot, really fresh ingredients and friendly service. I had the harissa eggs with fried chicken and my friend has the pancakes with plum/mascapone/honeyed wallnuts- both delicious. Great selection of freshly baked breads / pastries to takeaway!

We've been to the Forge many times already and we intend to go many times more! Delicious food, cute indoor and outdoor seating, and the friendliest staff. 👍 There's no prior booking so you've got to be fast, but their French toast is especially worth it!

Had breakfast here, I ordered the vegetarian breakfast (pictured) and my wife ordered a special of the day French toast. Both were great: fresh sourdough bread baked by the restaurant themselves, fresh ingredients, very big portion sizes. The hash browns looked oddly like onion bhajis and they were very hard to cut into (I just picked them up with my hands in the end), but they tasted fantastic, as did the vegetarian black pudding. Oh my goodness THIS PLACE !!!! We are so envious of everyone that lives nearby. We live 150 miles away but every time we come to the area (for work) we visit. Where do I start.. the coffee - so smoky and rich, expertly made.... the breakfast in the cafe is incredible, cooked with expertise and love.. the toasted sourdough with halloumi , avocado and harissa fried eggs and labne is HIGHLY recommended.. and the bread and pastries are so good!.. best croissant I've since being in Paris - sourdo...

Lovely place to visit and an amazing authentic bakery. Detailed comments below: Pain au chocolat: One of the best you will taste 10/10 Butter croissant: Now the issue is we only got the vegan one as they ran out of their normal one at only 10:30AM which is really bad considering it's 1.5 hours since they open. Hoping they fine tune their quantity. The vegan one in all honesty was a good one but nothing in comparison to normal one. Great option for vegans! 7/10 Hot chocolate: Very lackluster ...
