Description

A day-long off-loom weaving workshop for beginners between 10am - 4pm in the beautiful setting of Fisherton Mill in Salisbury.

Off-loom weaving can be done in many different ways and in many places, however this workshop focuses on using found items from nature like branches and stones.

That nature provides your loom, and the materials and equipment you need can be carried in a pocket or small bag, makes this type of weaving a wonderful option for some outdoor crafting.

Weave on branches to decorate your home, a stone to use as a doorstop or paperweight, or simply focus on the mindful process of weaving.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The course price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, use of any equipment, and all materials including yarns and fibres.

You will be given your own clear workshop handouts to take away with you.

You will receive a 20% discount on the lunch menu from the Fisherton Mill Gallery Cafe on the day of the workshop.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The workshop will teach you the basic principles and terminology of weaving and you will be introduced to several off-loom weaving techniques, including rock weaving and branch weaving.

We will cover the following:

  • How to pick the best yarns for weaving

  • How to turn branches, stones and other items into looms including windows and doors for bigger pieces

  • Lots of weaving!

  • Finishing and removing weaving from your 'loom'

Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have weaving experience and would like to take their weaving off a conventional loom and out into the natural world.

WHAT TO BRING

Fisherton Mill has a wonderful cafe where you can purchase your lunch, cakes and drinks, however if you'd prefer to bring a packed lunch, please feel free to do so.
