DYT’s mission is to help young people who struggle with reading, writing and language. This group of learners consistently underperform in literacy because of underlying difficulties that are not responsive to standard educational approaches, and may require targeted intervention, either in class or in a small group or individual setting. We advocate for the use of evidence-based practice and pride ourselves on having a team of experts who have both current knowledge and experience of working in schools alongside teachers and teaching assistants in both primary and secondary settings. We have developed our approach to collaborating with schools around our own Literacy Difficulties Framework, which acts as both a position statement and guidance on recommended practice. Home :: Luffenham Heath Golf Club Draped over the gentle folds of England’s smallest county, Luffenham Heath’s undoubted golfing charms unfurl delight­fully among its ramble of hawthorns, gorse, oaks and pines. While the firm, diving fairways were first conceived on Earl Ancaster’s land by the legendary Harry Colt and Charles Alison, most of the credit for ‘The Heath’ goes to James Braid who put his imprint on the original design. Braid’s signature features are much in evidence - cross bunkering and grassy wastes, and very subtly undulating greens hemmed in by sculpted traps. It was mostly untouched until 2004, when the club boldly embarked on a major renovation and modernisation project under the skilful guidance of Dr Martin Hawtree. Framed by deep, swaying fescue, the holes constantly change direction and several heart in the mouth moments confront you throughout the round and the dangers ebb and flow at every turn. Added to the great golf, its serene atmosphere always makes it a delightful wander through the best of Middle England and is widely regarded as one of the finest and most challenging heathland courses in the Midlands and beyond. Visiting golfers receive a warm genuine welcome and inevitably return again and again to enjoy the seasonal challenges throughout the year. Stoke Kung Fu and Kickboxing was established 40 years ago under the guidance of Henry Chung. He taught Lau Gar Kung Fu, which was derived from the form of Martial Arts practised at the temples situated in West China. The style subsequently became very popular in Great Britain. He was closely followed by George Shore who was the Chief Instructor until he passed the mantle onto Bob Parkinson who is the present day Chief Instructor. George Shore George Shore was a phenomenal martial artist who built a reputation for the Stoke Club. He was a dedicated and fearless individual who expected the highest standard from all of his students. He produced many world champions and world class instructors and had an elite fighting team who dominated Great Britain throughout the 80’s and 90’s. Bob Parkinson -‘Piston Legs’ When George Shore retired from Stoke he knew that the club would continue to thrive and that the highest standards would be maintained under the leadership of Bob Parkinson. Bob brings out the very best in his students; skilfully combining ultimate respect for the ethos of martial arts, within a very friendly and welcoming, all-inclusive club. His passion, dedication and ability continues to inspire and encourage students to reach their full potential. The club has been built on its reputation of having instructors who have all been coached and developed by the Chief Instructor. All are black sash in Kung Fu and black belt in Kickboxing and are of an exceptional standard.

When I was employed by our sister company Reach Alternative Education, we were moved daily by seeing our families clearly needing support and guidance with various situations and circumstances. Although we were able to do this to a point our social consciousness knew that this was not enough. This troubled us greatly, so we set about researching what was missing from our local communities and how we could bridge that gap. We realised we could create a response to address the imbalance that would add to the already vital services out there; whilst making sure that what we offered was completely accessible particularly for our families who never quite met thresholds with statutory or specialist services elsewhere. After much careful consideration Reach Out (SW) CiC was born as a not for profit community interest company. We hadn’t of course anticipated all things Covid-19 so our pilot and launch are commencing slightly later than scheduled as we do our utmost to accommodate best practice in line with ever-changing guidelines from the government. We are very fortunate to have complete support from Reach Alternative Education along with our directors and Advisory Group. We believe we have a format that is responsive to the ever-changing need of environments. We endeavour to supply practical support, guidance and enterprising opportunities to our local families that chose to access it. We launch our pilot in late September 2020 with the aim of obtaining enough grant support and donations to make the provision available to fully launch our Not for Profit Community Interest Company in late March 2021.

We have always been passionate about helping others and, during the pandemic, we saw the anxieties of parents trying to keep up with, and understand, their child’s learning. We could see what parents really wanted was support and guidance and we started to think how we could offer this through ‘Tutor Your Child’. We decided to put together a programme which will help and guide families through each school year for maths and English, nurture confidence and mental health as well as try and support any additional needs. ‘Tutor Your Child’ is an online subscription service for parents of children Reception to Year 6, to help with maths and/or English. Each week, parents receive a short video showing them what to teach and how to teach it, with supporting activities. By the end of the academic year, parents will have covered the skills within the curriculum with their child in small, manageable steps and been part of their child’s learning journey. There will be assessment opportunities along the way so they can keep track of their child’s progress. We are passionate about children’s mental health so ‘Tutor Your Child’ includes helpful advice through regular blog articles and access to our ‘Wellbeing Zone’; offering guidance for supporting children’s self-esteem and developing a positive attitude to themselves and others. We have been friends for many years with Maryanne having considerable expertise as a SENCO and Deputy Head and Sue spending many years working as a private tutor and teacher, and hope eventually we can grow ‘Tutor Your Child’ to help many families nationally.
