Your learning will be underpinned by the principles and practices of psychodynamic psychotherapy within the social, political and multicultural context of mental health care and educational settings. Study is informed by contemporary dance practice, Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) and somatic bodywork. Through theoretical studies, movement observation studies, dance practice workshops, clinical work and experiential learning, you integrate cognitive understanding and practical experience with a developing awareness of self and other. The nature of the therapeutic relationship is explored in depth through movement and dance and you have the opportunity to put your learning into practice through at least 90 days of supervised placements. This gives you the opportunity to relate your practical experience to your theoretical studies. You'll be encouraged to develop your own dance/movement practice and to situate your work in relation to your development as a therapist, to contemporary dance and movement practice. You're required to be in personal therapy throughout the programme (please note that this is at your own cost). On graduation you are eligible to become a registered professional member of the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMP UK). My background is in social justice work and capoeira Angola, the combination of which has taken me to complete a PhD in anthropology and to live for several years in Latin America. I came to yoga around 2007 in my early twenties, but it was when I was living in a particularly challenging context, as I accompanied human rights defenders in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, that I developed my own daily yoga and meditation practice. This sadhana (practice) became my inner refuge, and the fire for my resilience, as I witnessed and denounced the injustice experienced by those around me. I honestly felt I would not have been able to deal with some of the situations we experienced, without the inner equilibrium, peace and strength I was able to cultivate daily on my mat. It was this experience, and the desire to make yoga more accessible to many more of the people who could most use these tools for self-and community-care and resilience, that drew me to teach. Following this call, I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. In 2018 I participated in two transformative 100hr immersions with my dear friend and teacher, Bex Tyrer, at the Yoga Barn in Bali – Yoga Philosophy and You, and Body Image, Identity and Yoga, which had an emphasis on yoga activism and unwinding the feminine aspects of the practice.

Our names are Leah & Molly, we’re the founders of Little Turtles. Both of us have worked with children for 6 years+, both worked in a creche followed by both becoming childminders and how we actually met each other! We have a huge passion working with children and thoroughly enjoy our jobs as childminders. We both knew we wanted to work with children and build something of our own, after months of thinking and eventually planning, we created Little Turtles, parent, baby and toddler classes! We are both fully qualified in Early Childhood Care & Education Level 5, whilst Leah is currently studying her QQI Level 6 Childcare with Montessori. We are both fully qualified in First Aid & Fire Safety Training, Manual Handling, Food Safety and Children First with Tusla. We love working with children and find it such a rewarding job, working as a childminder and watching the children you work with grow and learn every day is amazing. So we want to put all our love, energy and passion into opening these classes for your children, we want to create a fun and friendly environment for you all! We would love to see you all grow and learn every day! So please, come along with us on this journey and I promise you won’t regret it. Hi I’m Helen! I am a fully qualified dance teacher with the International Dance Teachers’ Association running dance and dance- inspired fitness classes in Sheffield. Awards ‘Dance Fitness Instructor of the Year 2019 – South Yorkshire’ – August 2019 – Northern Enterprise Awards ‘Best Dance Fitness Instructor 2018 – South Yorkshire’ – August 2018 – Yorkshire and the Humber Enterprise Awards. Why do you teach? I have been teaching dance since I was 17. There is nothing more rewarding than helping my students realise their potential. I’ve always been so passionate about dancing and its benefits so in 2014 I decided to branch out into teaching dance-inspired fitness classes for adults. Since then I have discovered a real passion for encouraging people to get into exercise through the use of fun, dance based workout routines. I love helping my class members achieve their goals. The Dance Fit with Helen mission! Through dance, exercising can be fun and it should be fun otherwise you won’t want to do it! My mission is to break down this barrier of women feeling too self-conscious to go to an exercise class because of low body confidence and self-esteem.
