This course outlines exactly what constitutes manual handling and covers the regulations and legislation that apply to manual handling tasks. It then goes on to cover safe handling techniques and how to develop good habits in relation to manual handling. It finishes off by introducing some practical solutions and the use of mechanical aids. The course is run over 2 days. Day 1 is Face to Face, Day 2 is Zoom The course is run over 2 days you will learn about and how to teach and assess the following key areas: PUWER, LOLER and the Manual Handling Regulations Operations (1992) The anatomy of the spine How to risk assess using E.L.I.T.E safe principles The importance of reducing risk and removing hazards Correct understanding of R.I.D.D.O.R How to choose and use the correct equipment safely Condemned and dangerous moves Practical skills – Chair moves, slings, slide sheets and hoisting

The aim of this module is to enable delegates to support and care for others working in the industry by processing the knowledge, skills and attitude of Enhanced First Aid. Valid GWO BST Module First Aid certificate is a prerequisite for participation.

Manual handling, or to be accurate, incorrect manual handling, is one of the most common causes of injury at work. To try and combat manual handling problems, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations were introduced. The Regulations lay out duties for both employees and employers. They give a general requirement that employees must be trained to manually handle correctly including the use of any equipment their employer provides to handle loads safely. Moving & Handling Refresher training is mandatory for all staff who are physically assisting clients. What will my staff learn on this Course? Moving & Handling Refresher training is for staff who have taken part in a M&H Induction course within the last three years, or, have taken part in a M&H Refresher course within the last year. By the end of the course, you will be able to: Describe the structure of the spine and the risk of damage List factors that can help you to protect your back Explain how the law guides and protects you Describe the risk assessment process for manual handling tasks Demonstrate efficient movement principles Demonstrate practical techniques of moving & handling loads and people Please note: this course requires taking part in practical moving & handling activities.
