In accordance with the Memorandum and Articles, all Members and Students of the Institute shall in writing undertake to adhere to the following:- (members must note that because an item is not mentioned, it does not mean that it cannot constitute a breach of Ethics). As chiropody/podiatry in the United Kingdom is a legally regulated profession within the scope of the Health Professions Order 2001 (and subsequent amendments) attention is specifically drawn to the provisions of that act and the requirements of the legal entity created for its implementation; the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The contents of this document should be read in conjunction with the specific legal obligations and requirements placed upon Chiropodists and Podiatrists as registrants of the HCPC. Breaches of such legal requirements would additionally be regarded as breaches of the Institutes own ethical code and be dealt with in the manner laid down for such occurrence. Associates who are not HCPC registrants are still bound by the requirements of ethical, decent and lawful behaviour at all times and are subject to the same sanctions of the Board of Ethics as would apply to a HCPC registrant member. PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION “Chiropody/Podiatry” means the scientific care of the foot and directly related structures of the lower limb in health and disease in line with the best evidential paradigms existing at the time of such care. “Chiropodist/Podiatrist” is a protected professional title recognised in law and may only be used by an individual registered with the HCPC if that practice is within the United Kingdom. It is a criminal offence for such titles to be used by anyone who is not currently so registered even if they possess qualifications which relate to the titles such as diploma, certificates or degrees in chiropody or podiatry or any variation thereof which could be taken to imply they are currently registered as Chiropodists/Podiatrists. Members in practice outside the United Kingdom must comply with any legislation defining titles and their use that are applicable in their country of operation.

This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to take further training or to develop their knowledge and skills in this basic life support. It is recommended for first-aiders in the workplace and is also suitable for schoolchildren, as recommended by The Resuscitation Council (UK). How long will it take? To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 2-3 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time of 2 hours. The Aqualife Story Aqualife Swimming was founded by Penny Watkins in 2012. As a child, Penny was a naturally gifted swimmer, swam competitively and felt very at home in the water. In 1999 she gave up her career in a City law firm and packed her rucksack, heading off for water-based adventures around Europe, Africa and Asia. Whilst managing and teaching at a Scuba Diving centre in the Canary Islands, Penny got her first taste of the joy of teaching others about the aquatic world. Penny returned to the UK in 2006 and decided to follow her heart and pursue a career in swimming teaching. Crucially, she was determined to offer something in addition to swimming skills; she would take a holistic approach to her teaching and ensure that all her swimmers grew to love the water and have an understanding and respect for the aquatic world. In 2012 she was offered the opportunity to take over the running of a small local swimming school . . . And Aqualife Swimming was born. The swim school now employs 16 swimming instructors and provides high quality and fun swimming lessons to hundreds of individuals every week, at three venues in Sevenoaks, Kent. Classes include Adult Aquafit, Aquanatal, Parent and Baby/Toddler classes, STA accredited children's lessons and a special Junior Lifeguard programme, and all are designed to develop ability, confidence and a love of all things aquatic. Class sizes are small which enables all swimmers to have the space and time to learn at their own pace. Key to the Aqualife ethos is teaching all swimmers to understand their own natural buoyancy in the water and thus become confident independent swimmers. We specialise in working with children who struggle to adapt to the demands and expectations of mainstream school and support them and their families through the pathways of assessment, planning and intervention. We offer a therapeutic based alternative provision from our center in Well Lane Primary School (Annex). We aim to to support schools, children and families and, if possible, help them to either re-integrate back to their mainstream school or enable transition into the provision that is most suitable to meet their educational needs at the earliest opportunity. Our therapeutic and nurturing environment is designed to support all our pupils to help them to progress and develop personally, socially and emotionally. Our goal for all children who access the Evolve programme is to support them to integrate back into their chosen pathway while supporting schools, parents and other support services with a more strategic and seamless transition.
