Hi, I’m Lucy Branton, owner and founder of Dogholics, and for as long as I can remember I have adored animals, in particular dogs and horses. I have spent my life in training and caring for them. My first dog as an adult was a Sher Pei, at the time the vet told me I had acquired one of the most difficult breeds to train. This didn’t put me off and within a few short months, me and my Shar-Pei Louie were performing in an obedience display team with the Hull Dog Training Club, achieving gold standards in training. My next Shar-Pei became adept at agility, obedience, and rally, even running alongside a horse! Having a natural affinity with dogs and training, I soon set up a local dog training club, as a hobby, it wasn’t long before this became a well-used enterprise. I had to face it I was addicted to dogs! I knew the only way I could get my fix for my addiction was to turn it into a profession and took up dog grooming. I quickly achieved City & Guilds introduction levels locally, then taking further training in London, proving to be natural I achieved distinctions and merits, passing the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. I still wasn’t satisfied and started teacher training, later becoming employed at the Hull College where I originally trained. All of this has led me to want to help others, who like me love their dogs. To help dog owners and their dogs realise their potential, creating a space where dogs and their owners can come together, learn and build amazing bonds with each other. There is no love more addictive than a dog’s love and as dog owner all we ever want to do is to give them back the same love they give us. Hello and welcome – thanks for dropping in. My name is Adrian Lloyd although those that know me well find that Ade is what I answer to best. I am a full-time designer, maker and teacher and am passionate about traditional handcrafts. I live and work in North West Cumbria in a tiny farming hamlet nestled mid-way between the northernmost edge of the Lake District National Park and the Solway Coast. Most of my making and teaching takes place in an original threshing barn, one of several historic outbuildings, which, along with our 300-year-old farmhouse, surround a cobbled courtyard. I specialise in creating beautiful, functional, traditional hand-crafted items from green wood (that is wood that looks like a freshly felled tree and still contains all of its moisture) using traditional methods and razor-sharp hand tools like axes and knives. My craft is for everyday use in the kitchen and around the home, it is designed to be used hard and for a long time, hopefully by generations of the same family. I developed my passion for handcraft from a very young age and thrive when being able to ignite a new passion for creativity in others. After a design-based university education, I then spent nearly the next twenty years teaching children and adults in both formal and informal education settings, indoors and out. However, I then took the decision to pursue craft on a full-time basis and now earn my living from all things Slöjd! I have been carving on and off for the best part of probably thirty years and have added turning, furniture making, basket weaving and anything else green wood along the way. I also do some blacksmithing, bladesmithing and tool making and make all of my own bowl turning tools. I can normally be found somewhere along or between the length and breadth of this great island teaching some aspect of this wonderful craft we call greenwood, or holed up bothering some wood in my farmhouse workshop in Cumbria. I try to use only locally sourced British hardwoods in my craft that are harvested from either wind-blown trees or from sustainably managed woodland as part of a natural thinning and woodland regeneration process. I have favourite woods for specific purposes but will generally use any wood that is suitable for the function and form of the piece being worked on. I have a real interest in the way our relationships with the natural environment develop and have studied for qualifications in bushcraft leadership, practical ethnobotany and plant identification, wildlife identification and tracking and woodland management, including the identification and management of veteran trees. I draw on this knowledge and experience to ensure my teaching provides rich, holistic and rewarding learning opportunities. If you are looking for a piece of traditional craft work that will last for many years to come and want something that you can enjoy using every day then you have come to the right place. Our founder, Stine Dulong, quit her corporate lawyer job in 2013 to become a full time potter. For her, clay was a gateway into transformation. Not only did it become her career, and change the structure of her life on the surface, but it fundamentally shifted who she is and how she perceives the world. She had tried yoga and meditation, but it never “clicked” for her. Yet through pottery, she found a way into a slower, more mindful and joyous way of existing. Having experienced such a powerful transformation through working with clay, Stine decided that she had to share this magical material with the world, so she started offering classes at her studio. Little did she know that the demand would be so great that SkandiHus now consists of three studios, a team of 26 and more than 350 happy students every week. Bearing witness to the profound effects working with clay has on almost everyone who walks through the studio doors, is the greatest privilege of Stine’s life. When she isn’t busy teaching and running the business, she makes tableware for the likes of Nigella Lawson, Anna Jones and Tom Kerridge, and her work is in many high-end restaurants, including The Connaught Hotel, The Hand & Flowers and Nobu. When Stine first touched clay in an evening class in 2013, she felt like she had arrived home. Whilst she never intended to become a full-time potter, she decided somewhere along the way to trust the journey and continue to follow her heart no matter what. She is now a firm believer that the world would be a better place if everyone did more of what sets their soul on fire and that when we allow ourselves to follow our dreams, we indirectly give people around us permission to do the same. She often gives talks about following your passion and living a more present, slower and fulfilling life. She has recently signed with Rachel Mills Literary and will be writing a book about pottery and her journey. STINE’S WORK Stine’s work is inspired by a love for Scandinavian design in which beauty is radiated through light colours, the ample use of natural materials, minimalism and functionality. Like many Scandinavian designers before her, Stine believes that quality design should stylish and relevant to the modern human being by providing minimal distraction and maximum aesthetic value. Stine both throws and hand-builds her pieces, using a broad range of techniques to create her finished pieces. She also uses a wide range of clays and materials, but most of her pieces are made from reclaimed studio clay, as she is a firm advocate of minimising waste and our impact on the world. She finds great joy in making something beautiful from something once considered waste. When Stine is not busy making her own designs, and running the business, she teaches classes and events as she feels that she has been given this gift to share it with the world. She is slowly building the clay revolution, one ball of mud at a time.

The Street Soccer Academy is a newly formed project recruiting the best talent from in and around London after the Nike academy collapse. The Street Soccer Academy host trials through application, where the successful candidates will be invited to an evaluation on technical, tactical, physical and mental abilities. Only a successful players from the trialist will be chosen to form the Street Soccer Academy Team who will go on to play academy and pre-academy sides, numerous showcase matches through out the season against foreign and British professional and ex professional players overseen by domestic British and foreign clubs. These players will be required to train together with showcase matches up to 2 times a month, to attend branded events and tournaments with opportunities of sponsorship and professional/semi-professional opportunities . The final Street Soccer Academy team will undergo frequent filmed game analysis where individual performances will be tracked for improvements and adjustments, as well as footage edited to contribute towards a players CV for an invite into future clubs. Players will also be documented to track progress and give a behind the scenes look into sports science, fitness methodology, individual coaching, talent ID and mental training on the path to a professional career. The Trial Alongside performance on the day we have an Academy lounge set up for football specific guest speakers, workshops and presentations with the professional advice corner on nutrition. Players will be required to undergo fitness test, technical ability challenges as well as physical and mental evaluations before undergoing numerous small sided games. (These small sided games will be recorded with game footage sent back to individuals upon request.) Players can also join being out of contract or contracted (In a team or out of a team), the academy is a great shop window for non-professional players to showcase their talent through our set up. Unsuccessful trialist who show strong potential will be invited to our advanced training centres and be at times asked to train alongside the first team as replacements for subsequent injuries or absentees with the possibility of making it into the squad full time. Created to discover, develop and deliver talented footballers to the exposure of professional, semi-professional and foreign clubs. We deliver sessions for U6-U14, however U16-U23 being the Street Soccer Skills Academy First Team. The successful selection of the Street Soccer Academy First Team & youth squad will not only have regular team training, but tailored training provided by sports scientist, specialist 1-1 coaches as well as strength and conditioning leaders to help fulfill the teams and individual potential to have the best chance of being recruited. Players looking to join our programme must attend the trial or request to attend our advance training through application. I’m Sharon. I've been sewing and making stuff for as long as I can remember and went on to study Embroidered Textile design at Glasgow School of Art, but my interest in textiles goes way beyond stitch and I have a range of textiley skills which I bring to my work.  I always wanted to learn to crochet when I was wee but with no-one to teach me it took until 2011 when I decided I was just going to have to teach myself! I was too impatient to take it step by step so jumped straight in at the deep end and just had a go at all the things I really wanted to learn to make - flowers, fruit, vegetables, animals, Amigurumi; regardless of whether the pattern said they were for beginner, intermediate or expert! Within a month or 2 I was doing some simple designing and began selling crocheted goodies and patterns through my Etsy shop. I'm totally hooked! Making up for lost time I literally haven't put my crochet hook down as I continue to fine tune, develop skills and discover even more. My approach to teaching is pretty similar. Learning a new craft is all about repitition but that doesn't mean you have to make things just for the sake of it, or because someone says it's suitable for a beginner. I would encourage anyone thinking about taking up crochet or looking to develop their skills to choose things to make that appeal to you, why not challenge yourself and I'll do my best to help and encourage you along the way. I firmly believe that if you love what you're making, even if it's a little beyond your skill level, you're more likely to enjoy, learn and be inspired by the process. And the results are all the more rewarding, even if they're not always perfect. But if you prefer to build your skills from the basics up I do suggest what skill level classes are suitable for and how tricky they are on the fiddly diddly scale! Everything we make during a CAL is designed by me and patterns are written using US crochet terms. You can create the most amazing things with the most basic of stitches and that's what I try to highlight as a designer, but I don't always do things the easiest way; where necessary I prefer to show you slightly more advanced techniques and share tips that I think will help you achieve a better and neater finish to your projects; things I wish someone had been able to show me when I was learning.  Crochet-Alongs are held online via Zoom with patterns and access being sent the evening before. On the day I have an additional camera to give guests close up hand views as we're working.
