Training: Training Courses are run every year to the RYA start sailing schemes for Adults and Juniors Start Racing and Spinnaker training also given Powerboat and Safety boat training provided at reduced cost to facilitate club rescue duties Post course training with continued use of club boats and instructor coaching SUP introductory lessons and use of the lake at weekends for recreational paddling Training boats and buoyancy aids are provided Club membership is required to join a training course Racing: Pursuit and Handicap races on Saturdays and Sundays and, during the summer, a Thursday evening Based at a Severn Trent owned reservoir covering just over 100 acres, surrounded by trees that are set well back from the water giving mostly clear sailing winds, it provides the perfect safe teaching environment for all. We offer taster sessions after racing over the weekends, as well as additional training for those who have already completed their RYA Level 1 or Level 2 courses.

ballyholme yacht club

Ballyholme is an RYA recognised training centre and offers courses throughout the year to adults and cadets (age 8 and upwards) with sailing and power boat courses, including Race Officer, mark laying and many others. We also have a very buoyant cadet membership with over 40 youth sailors regularly training and racing throughout the year. We also run Dolphins and Sharks sessions on Friday evening during May and June, as well as numerous other family events such as the Corinthian Cup and Pirates Raid throughout the summer. BYC is also home to the North Down BSAC, our diving section, who provide training and diving throughout the year with facilities that are “second to none”. Ballyholme Yacht Club (BYC) is the home of champions and new sailors alike. It is run by its members, for its members, encouraging sailing, racing, diving, training, water based activities and social events. There is Club racing every Tuesday evening and Sunday afternoon from April to September and on Sunday afternoon Icebreaker Series through the winter for dinghies. Members are also welcome to race with our sister club Royal Ulster on Thursday evenings. Members also potter about sailing at any time – particularly when rescue boats are on the water for racing. Regattas are held most Saturdays through the sailing season in Belfast Lough and a number of Open series are held further afield such as West Highland Week & Cork Week. Ballyholme hosts, and members participate in, numerous national and international championships throughout the year. Many varieties of dinghy, day boat and yachts are sailed, including Toppers, Lasers, Picos, Bays, Waverleys, Squibs, Multihulls, Sports boats and Cruisers. Individual boats can be handicapped for racing so any boat can be included! There is a family class so the more people you have in your boat, the more points are awarded. Facilities include: Changing facilities. Dinghy parks & winter boat storage. Grounds for BBQs. Cadet/Training room. Jubilee Room – available for club and personal functions. Galley (kitchen).

The Chamberlain School of English is a small English family business that has been offering language trips for students (13-17 years old) to Eastbourne on the south coast of England during the school holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia (Easter/Summer) since 1984. During a language trip with us, the students can learn English at the same time as spending a wonderful holiday: specific English lessons in the morning, a varied leisure and entertainment program in the afternoon and evening, trips to London and Brighton and accommodation with English families - extensive language holidays at a fixed all-inclusive price. Thanks to our many years of experience, we know what makes a successful language trip for students. During each language trip there is always only one group. Since we have a limited number of students for each course, we get to know the children within a very short time and the students also quickly make new friends. Our very carefully selected host families for the language trip mostly live near the school or can be reached quickly by bus. The families are nice, open-minded and take good care of our students. We have a great English team of supervisors who are involved in all language travel activities and excursions. This also gives the students plenty of opportunity to use and improve their English in their free time. The teachers are experienced and adapt their lessons to the needs of the students. The small classes make it possible to support the students individually and to respond to the language difficulties of each individual. Our school building , Gildredge Manor , is a beautiful old manor house ideally situated in a lovely park setting close to the town centre. Not only the lessons take place here. We also host our entertainment afternoons and evenings here. Gildredge Manor isn't just home for our language study trips - we live here too, so our door is always open to our students.

I started commuting to work in Camden by bicycle in 2011 having not cycled for over 25 years. I enjoyed it so much, I soon joined a local cycle club. The Blue Cycle Training business, based in Enfield, started in 2015 in partnership with a local Bike shop after I taught my 2 children to ride bicycles for the first time. The business has grown from doing 3 or 4 Learn to Ride A Bicycle sessions a month to over 100 a month in the spring and summer months. The Learn to Ride a Bike lessons are normally 1 to 1 but groups sessions with more than 3 children or adults can be arranged with additional instructors. 90% of our customers are riding after their first lesson and often come back for a 2nd lesson to further practice their bike handling skills. The fleet of bicycles available for my lessons have increased to over 70 . These range from Balance bikes and pedal bikes for children as well as a few bikes for Adults. I use Frog bicycles for my lessons as these are some of the lightest bicycles on the market and I have a few that can be hired for a day, week, month or longer. Blue Cycle Training now operates mainly out of Keble School in Winchmore Hill, N21 at the weekends and school holidays though we also have worked in Broxbourne and Barnet. Other cycling activities including balance bikes and cycle skills lessons as well as Park Rides and Learn to Ride a bike on the road lessons. All Instructors are qualified to the National Cycling standard, hold DBS certificates , First Aid trained and have the relevant insurance. Customers have travelled from Enfield, Barnet, Hertfordshire, Camden, Harlow, Broxbourne, Kensington, Canvey Island for our Learn to Ride a Bicycle lessons. Blue Cycle Training have also successfully provided Learn to Ride a Bike sessions in schools located in Barnet and Enfield for children in Years 1 to 4.

I have over 20 years' experience (BSC (Hons) Sociology & Communication Studies) regarding intervention and prevention of vulnerable families in the UK. I trained as a Domestic Violence Crisis Counselor in New York and then progressed to train in London as a qualified mediator. I quickly became involved in community development; running large outreach programmes entitled "Life's Better Together". This included homework and art clubs, summer sports camps in local schools with volunteers and in partnership with Wandsworth Teenage Pregnancy Unit to provide short, sharp, intensive training for teenage mothers. I then moved into the youth offending world, coordinating Youth Inclusion Projects (YIP) with large staff teams providing outreach services to excluded young people and then strategic and operational co-ordination of Lambeth Youth Council.
