This workshop/seminar is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologist and art therapists working with, or planning to work with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Participants will be able to explore and augment their cultural awareness and competency for working with LGBTQ+ clients. This workshop will provide a a safe and supportive space to learn and will include experiential exercises as well as taught elements. The workshop will be delivered by Claire Black, Gestalt Therapist/Supervisor in private practice and Counselling Coordinator at LGBT Health and Wellbeing. 

This module will equip individuals with tools to more inclusively assess and provide safety plan support for LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic abuse. This 20-minute module is beneficial for health/social care practitioners, policing, justice services, safe space providers, and all others who may have contact with people experiencing domestic abuse.

Course Description:This one-day course on Sexual Health in Primary Care is tailored for Nurses, Nurse Associates, Pharmacists, and Allied Health Professionals working within General Practice. The day is structured to bolster healthcare professionals' confidence in providing comprehensive sexual health advice, screening, and effective signposting.Learning Outcomes:Participants will:1. Recognize Common Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in Primary Care: - Develop the ability to identify prevalent STIs based on symptoms and effective history-taking techniques in a Primary Care setting.2. Summarise Incubation, Testing, and Treatment for STIs: - Consolidate knowledge on incubation periods, testing methodologies, and treatment approaches for frequently encountered STIs, facilitating efficient patient management.3. Comprehend Preventive Strategies, Including Barriers and Vaccinations: - Grasp preventive measures encompassing the use of barrier methods and the significance of vaccinations, contributing to comprehensive sexual health counseling for patients.4. Gain Insight into Common Vaginal Infections in Primary Care: - Acquire an overview of frequently encountered vaginal infections in the Primary Care context, enhancing diagnostic skills and enabling appropriate intervention.5. Explore LGBTQ+ Considerations in Primary Care: - Examine issues pertinent to LGBTQ+ individuals in the Primary Care landscape, promoting a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to sexual health care.6. Develop Confidence in Referral to CaSH Services: - Foster a sense of assurance in determining occasions when referral to specialized sexual health (CaSH) services is warranted, ensuring seamless patient access to specialised care when needed.

Getting underneath behaviour - the impact of racism, of being LGBTQ+, gender and the dangerous long term implications of not processing feelings.

Kirsten joined Zeno in the summer 2024 after time working at a previous literary agency and before that working as a bookseller in the Charing Cross branch of Foyles. Kirsten has a BA (Hons) in English from Edinburgh Napier University and a Masters in Children’s Literature from Reading University. Kirsten is currently building her own list alongside handling Zeno’s translation rights. Kirsten is looking for: Scottish voices - especially something from the North East - Kirsten is Aberdonian and would love to help a writer from this space emerge. Water horror - as Kirsten grew up in Aberdeen she is always looking for horror inspired by the sea or the landscape of Scotland - bonus points if it has anything to do with an oil rig! Workplace horror like Camilla Grudova’s Children of Paradise or Calvin Kasulke’s Several People are Typing (this is not a reflection of her agency!) Romance - especially young and contemporary - obviously bonus points if it’s set in Scotland and written by someone who has lived there. Kirsten is a huge fan of all the usual suspects, Ali Hazlewood, Ana Huang, Bolu Babalola to name a few! Romantasy - less elves, more out of the box - Kirsten read Sarah J Maas in 2014/15 and so is looking for something that expands on the genre. A good crime thriller - Kirsten did her dissertation on terrorism so anything that is well written in this space would be a dream for her. Additionally she really enjoys serial killer novels and the recent fake true crime novels, Penance by Eliza Clark especially thrilled her. A Studio Ghibli esque fantasy - luscious landscapes, brilliant characters, a powerfulstory. If any of your comps are a Ghibli film she wants to see it! Fanfiction writers! Kirsten has always been on the sites and would love you to tell her if you’ve written fanfiction in the past / have an ongoing fanbase - maybe she has already read it. Kirsten already has: A nonfiction baking book - Kirsten would not want another at this moment. A middle grade cosy fantasy - Kirsten would love to see more of this! But worries if it’s too close to what she already has, then it would be a reason for her to turn it down. A Horror Vampire novel - again she would love to see more of this! But worries if it’s too close to what she already has, that would be a reason for her to turn it down. Vampires would probably be better for her if they were contemporary or in the romantasy space. A Game of Thrones esque fantasy - a client is already writing this and she wants to give it the space on her list it deserves! By the end of this course, you will be better equipped to challenge biases, advocate for inclusivity, and support the mental health needs of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Transforming our approaches to meeting boys emotional needs with some radical fresh thinking

This is a recording of a session which took place on Zoom on Thursday 3 July 2025.   Are you interested in developing programmes and exhibits with LGBTQ+ content for children and families?    About this training    During this training session, we will address the challenges museum staff and volunteers face when creating LGBTQ+ content for children and families. Alongside this we will discuss strategies for advocating for this content and explore resources for planning and implementation.    This webinar will be led by Margaret Middleton, a freelance exhibit designer and museum consultant based in Manchester. Their background is in children's museums and they have written and consulted widely on creating LGBTQ+ museum content for families, especially those with children aged 10 and under.    Margaret will be joined by Dylan Saul, Family Programmes Facilitator and Moa Strand, Families and Young People Programmes Manager at Royal Museums Greenwich and Daniel Jessop, Learning and Community Engagement Officer at Novium Museum, who will talk about their LGBTQ+ work for children and families.     The session will help you to:  Understand the importance of this work, Think critically about the challenges you may face undertaking this work, Develop ways to advocate for this work, Gain inspiration from case studies to take your own work forward.   Take a look at the full schedule.    Who should attend?  This training is aimed at staff and volunteers who work in museums, art galleries and heritage sites and are interested in developing programmes and exhibits with LGBTQ+ content for children and families.
