ndate Systems Ltd was formed in 1991, initially providing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE), and helping companies to comply with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) set out by the Health and Safety Executive(HSE). Major expansion from 2000 enabled Mandate to take advantage of a gap in the market and progress to providing a full comprehensive solution for the pressure industry including consultation, auditing, technical manuals, statutory Pressure System examinations and training. From 2000 technological developments were made by moving away from paper to CD manuals, followed by progressing to emails in 2003, and online documentation by 2005. With over 25 years experience in compressed air, we have used our vast knowledge to be the frontrunner in new technologies, most recently moving reports from paper based to the cloud; Since 2017 all of the reports and documents produced by Mandate are now held in an innovative cloud-based system, streamlining and expediting the whole process. We have recently been thrilled to bring to the market PressureSafe – a new concept that is revolutionising the industry. Over time we have assisted over 5000 customers with PSSR and produced over 9000 Technical Pressure System Safety Manuals, including Written Schemes of Examination (WSE). With a multitude of customers ranging from the Ministry of Defence, Blue Chip PLC’s, and the Emergency services to small garages and dentists, we comprehensively produce WSE’s and carrying out legal examinations on many gases, mixed gas, compressed air and steam systems varying from 0.5bar +. Our dedicated team have many years of experience in this area of Health & Safety, with our head of engineering qualified to CEng and a member of the IMechE and IMarEST. Inova has been running since 2001 and provides consultancy services, training and coaching programmes in the areas of entrepreneurship, employability, career development and wellbeing, with a focus on diversity and equal opportunities. We work with a wide target group for which we provide a variety of training and support programmes. Much of our work focuses on supporting those who are under-represented or who face challenges to fulfil their potential, and many of these are co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. The UTC curriculum has a strong emphasis on ‘real life’ project-based learning, which engages students and develops their personal character. By contrast, maths education is diverging more and more from today's and tomorrow's requirements of countries, industry, further education... and students. Unless we take harder, machine-computed maths back into the school curriculum, maths in education will continue on its ineffective downward spiral, destined for future failure—a future populated by bored and switched-off students, dissatisfied employers, bewildered governments, frustrated teachers and concerned parents. Aware of the increasing divergence between school and real-life maths for more than a decade, Conrad Wolfram believed the growing political impetus, emerging computing ubiquity and practicality of interface and implementation made 2010 the right time to start computerbasedmath.org. Edinburgh Science Foundation is an educational charity, founded in 1989, which operates Edinburgh Science's Education and Festival programmes. We are best known for organising Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival – the world’s first public celebration of science and technology as a festival and still one of Europe’s largest – as well as our science education outreach programmes, Generation Science and Careers Hive and our community engagement work. As leaders in our field of Science Communication, we work year-round to create and deliver dynamic hands-on workshops and exhibitions and inspirational shows, discussions, debates and performances that continually push the boundaries of public engagement with science. Communication and engagement is at the core of all our work and we strive to ensure that this is embedded in all aspects of our organisation. Festival Our 2022 Festival spanned 9–24 April and explored the theme of Revolutions – lifeforms, lifecycles, revolutionary ideas and solutions to global challenges. This year's Festival saw the return to our family hub at City Art Centre and two major new interactive exhibitions, DataSphere and Consumed, alongside a vibrant and varied programme of other events for audiences of all ages in collaboration with our network of amazing partners. Learning Our touring education programme Generation Science has been providing unique science experiences to schools across Scotland for 30 years. In light of COVID-19 restrictions, this year's programme was made up of pre-recorded workshops, loan kits and make-along boxes which were designed to get pupils out of their seats and involved. Secondary schools careers event Careers Hive was hosted this year on Gather, an interactive online digital platform. Over 2,400 students from over 30 Scottish schools took part in the event, which highlighted the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects. Worldwide Edinburgh Science also operates a large-scale international programme of work under our Worldwide arm. It regularly presents events overseas and is currently the Major Programming Partner of the annual Abu Dhabi Science Festival, helping to curate, produce and deliver the event. For international partners, the team at Edinburgh Science provide engaging content, curatorial advice on programming and business planning support, along with expert staff and training for local science communicators.
