WHO WE ARE British Home Tutors (BHT) is a collegiate group of around 60 school teachers who work or have worked at independent schools in the London area such as Westminster, St Paul’s, Latymer, Eton, Harrow, UCS, Highgate, Bute House and other top performing English private schools. We are a small organisation who have been operating in central London for almost 20 years. Our intention is to remain small so that we can retain strong quality control over what we provide. This means that at certain times of the academic year, demand exceeds supply for our services. Our unique selling point is the fact that we are classroom teachers who provide home tuition in our spare time e.g. evenings after school, at weekends and during the holidays. BHT is the only tutor organisation in the UK with this classroom teacher emphasis. Pupils and teachers generally get in touch with us by word-of-mouth. Families who use us refer us to their friends. Teachers at these top schools also refer pupils to us. We do not advertise although we are highly recommended by the Good Schools Guide. This is an independent recommendation and no payment is involved. We are professional, collegiate and friendly but our ethos is not one of a highly commercial organisation as such. We can help your child with their study skills, exam technique and revision skills. Newport Girls’ High School offers an all-round education with considerable strengths both inside and beyond the classroom. We support students academically to achieve their potential, whilst also developing resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. As a relatively small school, there is a real family-feel to NGHS and our house system affords students the chance to meet peers in other year groups and to participate in healthy competition in a wide range of disciplines. There is an extra-curricular activity to suit all tastes at NGHS and staff work exceptionally hard to provide these opportunities for our students. We also organise a number of key open events during the academic year and welcome visitors to see all that NGHS has to offer. Our curriculum is academically rigorous with all students studying two modern languages in KS3 and separate sciences at GCSE. Some students also study Further Maths as an additional equivalent GCSE. At A-level we offer a full range of subjects to enable progression to university, apprenticeship or employment. Significant support with UCAS applications is available to all. Our pastoral team, comprising both teaching Heads of Year, SENDCO and non-teaching support staff ensure that our students’ individual needs are met and we work closely with families and primary schools to ensure a smooth transfer from Year 6. Newport Girls’ High School was visited by Ofsted in October 2019 for a section 8 inspection. We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status as a result of this visit under the revised Ofsted framework.

We are a registered charity working to foster earth building in all its diversity. In Lingala, a common language in Congo, EBUKI means 'I work, I dance'; we like that ... Where we started EBUKI started with a meeting, in 2007, of people and organisations interested in increasing and normalising earth in construction. To make earth building normal requires more research, more teaching and training, more standards, more assessment, more information, more networking, more built examples, more experienced professionals, in other words more of lots of different activities! So, we agreed that an organisation, which fostered the use of earth as a building material in all its forms was essential. We have had a great deal of success and continue to grow our organisation from strength to strength.
