Learn to wood turn in a heated workshop with one to one tuition. These 2 days do not need to be taken together and often people complete day 1 and then get some practice time (and some new tools!) in and then come back to learn a bit more. Expect to cover: Day 1 Prep talk on: Health &amp; Safety - Dust Extraction - Lathe choice - Tools - Sanding - Finishing - Timber - tool sharpening. Then let's get turning your first project. Lunch break. Bring a friend (or a few!) - it is great fun to have fellow learners to bounce ideas off and you can book a date and time to suit you. In 1.5 hours you can usually make approx 2-3 items including 1 small piece like jewellery and then a larger piece eg: coasters, hanging panels, tree decorations etc. &nbsp;The one-off lesson is suitable for people who want to learn the basic techniques of a new craft which might lead to a new hobby and if you are interested I can talk you through the equipment needed etc. Or you can just come to try something new and enjoy the creative experience. It is a great gift idea for someone who enjoys trying new things!&nbsp;Glass fusing is where pieces of coloured glass are cut and layered, put into a kiln and fused together to make jewellery, coasters or decorative window hangings (sun-catchers) etc. Glass comes in many forms and cutting is not always needed and you don&#39;t need any artistic ability! Always wanted to try out the pottery wheel? Well, this private lesson is the perfect option and you can bring your friends/loved ones along to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or any other special event!

Kicking off with a practical demonstration, we will take you on a step-by-step journey of the fundamental ceramic techniques of ‘Throwing’ on the wheel. Each step requires practice so you'll be hands-on in no time learning each step of the journey as we go. 
But that's not all, We'l keep them safe for up to 3-months so you return to glaze (add colour) to your creations. Your beautiful handmade clay pots will then stay with us for firing before taking them home with you. 
Being artists ourselves, we know that learning how to use the pottery wheel requires concentration and focus, so when it comes to the wheel, we only offer private lessons for a maximum of 5 people. What is the course about?
You're a maker in your favoured medium - ceramics, wood, metal, glass or whatever - and you want to make electric lamps.
This course will tell you everything you need to know beyond using your existing skills in making the lamp base: design considerations; bulbs, bulb holders and lampshades; wiring; testing; and all the standards and regulations that you need to conform to (covering UK and EU requirements).
Note that although I am a potter, the course is not centered round the use of ceramics (or any other material) in making your lamp base. 
The course is run over three weekly sessions, 19:00 – 20:30. These are recorded and put onto the course web page so you can view them at other times.
