School of Outdoors was born from the founder Dominic working as a self employed instructor, teaching Mountain Training courses and providing expedition support to schools in the South East. Dominic has worked directly for The Duke ofEdinburgh's Award as an Operations Manager overseeing the development of the South East region and at one point overseeing 500 Licenced Organisations. Dominic has also managed the operations of DofE while working for two local authorities. Dominic's Passion for the outdoors developed when he completed all three levels of DofE. During Dominic's time working for DofE he could see how difficult it was for schools and centres to find the perfect AAP. He has made it his mission to change this. Dominic and the team have a vast amount of knowledge, not just about the DofE programme but also about the challenges faced by schools. We want to make our offering as smooth and hassle free as possible, whilst providing a great experience for your students at the lowest possible price. ust as we are all a work in progress, the seasons of Nature allow children to discover their own rhythm of learning within an ever-changing classroom without walls. Situated in 3/4 acre private woodland, Tiny Tribe Outdoors welcomes schools and groups of children to enjoy, play, create and learn. With experienced and well qualified staff, we offer a range of site development consultancy, play sessions and therapeutic services to our local community, as well as CPD and professional training to the Early Years and education workforce.

Urban Outdoors have been working with children, young people and adults creating unique outdoor experiences in local wild spaces for over 10 years. We work on bolstering resilience and intrinsic growth for participants using carefully developed strategies, group investigations and community building exercises. Our staff are trained Forest School instructors, who truly believe in the transformative possibilities presented to us through nature and community connection. Our aim is to model emotional intelligence in socially and physically engaging environments, to build community and trust, helping participants to grow. We mentor participants in self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, motivation and assertiveness using incremental tasks, games and shared experiences. We have always been known for being a fun and approachable club. Currently we have around 40 members shooting all styles of bows. The club primarily consist of recurve and compound archers. There are still the odd few who shoot longbow, bare bow and more traditional styles. Some club members also practice other types of archery such as Clout, Flight and Field but unfortunately the club does not have the facilities to cater for these. Over the years the club has produced several top archers. Some of our juniors shot on the Scottish squad and team, representing Scotland all over Britain. We have Scottish record holders, British record holders, even a British Under 15 Junior Boy champion. The seniors have represented the club over the years with Scottish, British and even Olympic champions. Loreburn Archers certainly does have a good pedigree behind it and it is something we are extremely proud of. The club practises all year round. Our indoor season runs from September through to March. We currently shoot at St Joseph’s College Sports Hall. The outdoor season runs from March to September. Through the summer we practise outdoors at the Crichton Playing Field, when it is not raining or too windy to shoot. Directions can be found on our contact page. If you are thinking about taking up the sport, we run a beginners’ course once a year. Completing the beginners’ course is the only way for a novice to join the club. However if you have been a full shooting member of a club in the past, please get in touch with us to inquire about joining. Archery is a sport that is open, to all irrespective of ability. We encourage anyone and everyone to come along and have a shot, the club’s minimum age limit is set at 12 years old. Each November the clubs runs an open indoor competition attracting up to 80 archers from all over Britain. Loreburn Archers also run a number of Come and Try sessions at local Gala days during the summer season which introduces archery to a wider audience as well as raising funds for the club.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people.
