Ktec Training

ktec training

One only needs to visit KTEC to see the commitment to high standard technical and professional training. Our instructors are industry professionals having years of experience before entering the teaching field. It is this added benefit of industry experience that makes the difference when a student enters the workforce or continues on at the post-secondary level. The programs are designed around local, state and national skills standards. Even if the student does not go directly into the industry, the workplace skills, such as communication, problem solving and punctuality are valuable lifetime tools. STAY CONNECTED One of the major attractions of KTEC is the connection to the student's home high school. Our Campus is an extension of their high school where they remain for three periods allowing them to make and maintain important connections to friends, teachers and counselors. Students also benefit greatly from the extensive connection instructors have with industry. Many students are placed in job shadows, internships and clinicals during the program. Students get to see first hand how business operates, and on many occasions our students have a leg up when it comes to applying for and getting a job. KTEC has a connection with colleges and technical schools that allows students to earn college credit at little or not cost while still in high school. Tech Prep programs are saving families money and time when the student moves into advanced training. Over 90% of the programs offered have a college credit option. So take a moment, look at the programs available to you, then talk to your parents and counselor. What you learn at the Skills Center may change and enhance your future.

Some wise heads If you want to develop yourself, your organisation or your community, you are in the right place. We help people to reach their true potential (e.g. better lives & better leaders); help organisations – through the prism of diversity - to be more effective with better outcomes; and to help communities by advancing and sharing good practice in international development. We have been fortunate to have colleagues who have worked in great organisations that have taught us how to analyse, review and advise others. It is these tools we continue to build on to help others. The power of diversity and travel - We have been very lucky to have travelled extensively in Europe, Asia, USA, Africa and the Caribbean / Latin America. It has given us the opportunity to see the universality of human desire to advance themselves; and that exploring new ideas can change your perspective and beliefs. Our Vision - to help individuals, organisations and communities to advance themselves, even if it means questioning the strong beliefs, we all hold. We will continue to challenge our beliefs and the beliefs of others so long as they hold us back from making progress as a global human family. Our Mission - to help millions of people worldwide, to lift themselves out of their ‘humdrum’ of daily life, to achieve their dreams that were often beaten out of them by ‘life’ experiences and ‘negative people’. Our values - Hard Work; Integrity; Gratitude; Family; Hope & Dignity; Love; and Fun. Hope - I believe in the power of hope. Everyone deserves the opportunity to work towards achieving their dreams. “Without hope, there is no future, just survival!”

After several years of experience teaching EAL to all age groups, she began teaching IB Diploma Programme English and ToK in 2002. Since then she has also taken on the roles of examiner and workshop leader for the IB. Her perspective has been shaped and informed by her varied experience and her teaching in very different and diverse contexts in Greece, Germany, the UK and China. Additionally, her experience from working at residential schools has enhanced her awareness of the impact of holistic education on teaching and lifelong learning. Her understanding of the challenges of the interaction of national curricula with the IB Diploma Programme as well using English as the medium of instruction in international schools have become an integral feature of her professional agenda. The administrative positions she has also held -IB Diploma Programme Coordinator and Head of English- inform not only her understanding of contextual and pedagogical implications for the teaching of English for both students and teachers, but also the impact of secondary education on raising internationally-minded global citizens who will continue to learn, earn and contribute to a sustainable future for all. Anna has a passion for reading, for learning that challenges expectations and curricula, for asking searching questions, as well as for strategic thinking for educational institutions. She is the author of several academic papers in Theoretical Linguistics and her most recent writing project being the Oxford University Press English A: Literature Course Companion for the new IB Diploma Programme curriculum (first teaching 2019). Between workshops, consultancies, writing and assignments, she enjoys reading, blogging and spending time with her children, her friends and her former students, wherever they are.

Red Brick Glass

red brick glass

In 2000 after graduating with a 1st class degree in glass from Edinburgh College of Art Wendy moved into her first glass studio, a small red brick outbuilding in her home in Dorset. Wendy then received the prestigious Crafts Council Start Up Award to purchase equipment to start Red Brick Glass (the glass kiln is still going strong 20 years on!) Wendy worked as an architectural glass artist, collaborating with interior designers and architects to create large-scale glass installations and made small glass work to sell in galleries and shops. After a few years Wendy launched her website (with a new-fangled online shop) and started to run fused glass making workshops. 4 years ago Wendy moved into her new home and studio, a gorgeous barn conversion in the beautiful village of West Lulworth, Dorset. This was a dream come true as Wendy always wanted to live within walking distance from the sea. She still doesn’t take it for granted and walks to get her dose of sea air most days. Red Brick Glass continues to grow and develop. Wendy designed the make at home kits during lockdown 2020 as she couldn’t run workshops and due to their success she now needs a little help in the studio to keep up with orders. Vicki is the brilliant new studio assistant and Wendy’s teenage daughters help out at weekends and holidays (filling up colourful glass pots is the favourite job). We are very grateful to Red Brick Glass customers who have supported us over the years. We are excited for the future and hope you will follow us on our journey.

Waggy Races Dog Training & Walking

About Becki and where Waggy Races started… My name is Becki and I am an Animal Biology BSc Hons and Animal Care HNC graduate. I qualified through COAPE as an Animal Behaviour Practitioner Dip CABT in 2020. I have been working with animals since a young child but professionally started in 2013 when I embarked on my Animal Care HNC. I was employed in a dog daycare whilst doing my degree, then moved on to working in a veterinary practice as a nurse. After a few years there I decided to make the move and become self employed as a dog walker and trainer. In 2019, a few months after completing my Animal Biology degree, where I wrote my dissertation on Flamingos (!!), I enrolled for my Animal Behaviour diploma with COAPE International. This consisted on 50+ hours in a training school, 50+ in a rescue/shelter environment, 100+ hours of lectures and of assessment writing. Additionally, I am qualified in animal nutrition, canine first aid and body language. I am also a Scentwork UK instructor. My main focus has always been on large breeds and reactive dogs, having experienced many and having lived with my own! We recently lost Enzo, our 2 year old Dobermann pictured, shortly after qualifying for Crufts, to an aggressive form of cancer so I currently share my home with my partner Stewart and my 6 year old cat Casper. My training specialities are advanced obedience, dog reactivity and separation anxiety. My aim is to help owners understand their dog and how to pave a better future for them. I do not judge and will always give the best advice and help I can.
