Agile PM vs. Waterfall PM (Virtual) The concept of Agile project management refers to the use of a number of tools and techniques that are based on enabling project teams to deliver products to a predetermined and agreed timeline. The concept of Waterfall project management refers to the use of a number of tools and techniques that are based on enabling project teams to deliver products to a pre-determined and agreed specification. The selection of the most appropriate project management method has, historically, been a choice of 'either/or' when it comes to these two approaches. It is now becoming clear that for many projects, the selection of a single project management method does not satisfy the professionalism of the project team nor does it optimize the return on investment for the sponsoring organization. A radically different approach is needed. This course presents an approach to project management which capitalizes on the most appropriate elements of each method tailored to the specific project being undertaken. In this course, the Waterfall approach will be based on the PRINCE2 model. Each method will be presented to highlight its particular strategy and strengths. The course will then propose project scenarios which will require the project team to use a hybrid method which brings together aspects of both methods. The overall goal of the course is threefold: · To introduce the Waterfall approach to product development. · To introduce the Agile approach to product development. · To explore how a combination of both approaches can bring added value to the sponsoring organization and their customers.
Thinking about a job as a Digital Product Manager? The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Digital Product Management encourages individuals in both technical and non-technical product-related roles to develop the practical behaviours required to succeed in leading a product project or team.
Overview In this competitive era no matter how much hard work and solid efforts are contributed still, too many projects end up creating unneeded and unsellable products. There is a significant risk that the outcome of the project may not be relevant to the client/user requirements or become outdated when needs change. Here is where Design Thinking and Agile Management play their role. The combination of Agile and Design Thinking should be used in order to achieve impactful outcomes. Agile and design thinking together works well and gives an effective approach to product development, one that results in efficient resolutions to significant problems. In this course, you'll learn how to define and determine what's important to a user primary in the process, to frontload value, by directing your team on testable narratives about the user and generating an effectively shared perspective. Project Management Fundamentals: Virtual In-House Training Many projects are performed by highly competent and effective people who have little or no project management training. They perform projects like process improvement, marketing campaign development, new product development, event planning and production, and other 'tasks' which are projects. Project Management Fundamentals (PMF) is designed to support those people who need a solid foundation in project management, without being unnecessarily burdened to learn it while on the job. The course offers practical skills, concepts, and principles that can be taken back to the workplace, along with insights needed to adapt them to specific project environments. In today's environment, that means possibly adapting to Agile / Iterative methods. So, we have recently added key Agile concepts to provide a basic understanding of shifting towards agility. Since PMF's course goal is to achieve quality performance by learning effective planning and control, the focus is on a process orientation and an analytical, systems-oriented approach. Together, these frameworks promote project-related problem solving and decision-making skills necessary for real world projects. They honor project needs for collaboration, clear communications among people, and interpersonal and relationship skills. Recognition of these needs are woven throughout PMF, but are highlighted in two specific areas: Module 2 - People and Projects Module 8 - Executing, Communicating, and Developing the Team
