Hi I'm Jo Westfoot, the owner of The Crafty Nomad. The Crafty Nomad offers online education to quilters on many areas of patchwork and quilting. Our mission is to help quilters gain in confidence, gain new skills and get better results and more satisfaction with their makes. All of our classes are pre-recorded so you can learn when it's convenient to you.  Some classes and our membership have Live Zoom sessions with me to clarify learning. We are based in Edinburgh and we offer a range of creative workshops, classes, community projects end events, as well as collect leftover and unwanted textiles to produce handmade and unique items.

After gaining a Distinction for her Masters in Textiles at UAL she pursued her love of using leather and created a range of leather bags & accessories. Rosanna also swiftly developed a range of courses and built on her previous career as a Design & Technology teacher to pass on her knowledge to others. Within just 2 years of setting up her business she was commissioned to write the now very popular leather craft book ‘Sew Luxe Leather’ published in 2018. The book comprises of 20 projects complete with step by step instructions, templates and detailed information on tools and suppliers to get students started in the craft.

Our weekly classes are for children aged 8 years upwards. Classes are usually 1 hour or 1.5 hours, after school or on a Saturday morning. Each student will create a sketchbook, a skills folder and a final practical piece. We focus on themes each term such as sustainability in fashion, portraits, graphic design, costume design. Each project will have a research element as well as a practical element and students will be introduced to key designers and artists relevant to that theme.
