child and family learning trust

Halifax

The Family of Learning Trust is a small Trust serving Calderdale and the adjoining areas. The Trust is committed to a local approach, unlike some other large academy chains. It believes in “local solutions for local people”, with school improvement work being focused on a true understanding of the local communities the schools’ serve. The Trust has developed strong networks and partnerships with many other organisations; we have a large and experienced senior team with many areas of expertise including SEND, Teaching and Learning, Curriculum, HR, Inclusion and Finance. We have the capacity and expertise to make a significant impact on improving opportunities for pupils through raising attainment and improving the teaching and learning experiences in other schools. School improvement is a key driver for the Trust and we are committed to working with schools to bring about positive change. Our core purpose is to: Enable academy leaders and staff to raise standards of achievement and attainment by working collaboratively across the trust. Remain individual as a school and thrive in its own context. Ensure our learners receive a broad, balanced, engaging curriculum. Ensure all academies are achieving value for money. Build capacity across all aspects of education, business and operational activity. Minimise bureaucracy for leaders so they are able to focus on achieving the best outcomes for learners. Recruit and retain excellent staff within the Trust. Provide excellent CPD opportunities. Drive school improvement through specialist staff and lead practitioners in the Trust Ensure staff wellbeing and good work-life balance. Provide HR/Finance and payroll support. Access opportunities for close partnership working with the Local Authority and local Teaching schools to benefit our pupils.

Control Shift

control shift

Bristol

Control Shift celebrates computational arts that explore the messy spaces in-between humans, nature and machines. We bring people together to re-imagine our relationships with technology through dialogue and arts. We live in a world where machines increasingly collect information about us, reducing our bodies and the things around us to streams of data. In turn the digital realm can feel abstract, and out of our control. The stuff of computers and digital infrastructure is often hidden out of sight and huge power imbalances exist around who is making technology and who benefits from it. Yet the impact of our interactions with machines and technologies are very much rooted in the body, materials, and emotions. Through workshops, discussions, installations and screenings Control Shift brings creative and critical approaches to technology. Control Shift 2020 was curated by Becca Rose, Martha King and Rod Dickinson, and you can visit the archive to find out more about the programme. In 2019 we produced ‘You Make the Rules’ which was part of Processing Community Day (a global celebration of ‘art, code and diversity’ initiated by the Processing Foundation). Control Shift Community The Control Shift network is a collective of digital artists, educators, producers, and technologists from Bristol (UK) and working internationally. If you are interested in joining the network or finding out more sign up to our newsletter sign up to our newsletter. We have an extended network of partners, funders, supporters and mentors including Knowle West Media Centre, Arnolfini, Watershed, Furtherfield, Aksioma, and Processing Foundation. We want our events to be welcoming and inclusive and we use the Berlin Code of Conduct as our guide.

Worcester

The Christian Coach and Mentor Network is a digital hub for Christian mentoring and coaching in the UK. We are passionate about Christian mentoring and coaching, about overall consistency in the work that is offered from Christian mentors and coaches, and about the Christian community working together to provide a valuable and worthwhile service to those seeking a Christian mentor or coach. The pressures of Christian ministry demands a wide range of gifts, skills and a depth of spirituality. As demanding as this is, many have also found themselves isolated and have been looking for mentors and coaches to travel with them. Those who have found mentors and coaches testify to the impact on their life and leadership, but many struggle to find a mentor or coach, often not knowing who to ask or where to go. The Christian Coach and Mentor Network is a project under Chapel House Ministries, a space of unhurried encouragement, good food, laughter, honesty, passion, and (in the words of a recent visitor) “the finest puddings in all the ‘Shire.” Our team includes the trustees of Chapel House, a leadership team and an operations team. You can meet us here Our website provides access to Christian coaches and mentors for anyone looking for this support in the UK with categories for youth, church leadership and general mentoring. We also provide a central hub for training, resources. local support and supervision. In the future we are planning regional and national events to support coaches and mentors across the UK plus more resources including webinars and training to ensure the standard of coaching and mentoring in the Christian world is as high as possible.

The Scottish Fisheries Museum

the scottish fisheries museum

Fife

Situated in a wonderful collection of historic buildings on the harbour of a small and beautiful fishing port, we are a charitable trust which has become a national institution with an international reputation. Reaper & Museum Reaper & Museum Our principal aim, in all of our efforts with regard to the displays in our extensive museum and our many educational and research activities, is to excite informed interest in the development of the Scottish commercial fishing industry among people of all ages in and beyond Scotland. The core story that we have to tell is the history of how, through a constant process of innovation, the Scottish fisheries became such an important part of the lives of so many Scots. Family Baiting Lines Family Baiting Lines Our collections are truly inspiring. They permit us to exhibit wonderful examples of historic fishing boats and gear. They help us to illustrate the geography and social structures of our fishing communities. They allow us to honour their ways of life, skills, customs, dress, creativity and resilience, and to improve understanding of the various external circumstances, environmental, technological, political and commercial, which had and still continue to have such an impact upon them. We take seriously the responsibilities that come with our belonging to a very special section of Scottish society, to men and women who, over the centuries, have faced both natural and man-made adversity and yet maintained a proud tradition and a distinct, but open, culture. In celebrating their achievements, we are proud to welcome all of our visitors, young and old, to an experience that will be both highly entertaining and informative.

Whitechapel Community Project

whitechapel community project

London

We are a volunteer led work with very few staff, but this does not mean we are a small organization. We can see as many as 300 people a day, looking for our assistance. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. We recognize the true strength of our volunteers. And we recognize the value of everybody coming through our doors. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future. Today, The Whitechapel Mission is a results-oriented organization that is recognized as one of London's most effective. Our Purpose The Whitechapel Mission is called to serve the men and women caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and to see their lives transformed to hope, joy and lasting productivity. Our Goal To be the most effective provider of compassionate care and life transformation for hurting people in London. We promote the concept of being part of the Mission and taking ownership of the Mission. Any and all who come are welcome. The services we offer are built upon trust and belonging. We are an inclusion centre rather than an exclusion centre. SERVICES WE OFFER
