Taking the twelve stages of Joseph Campbell's 'Hero's Journey' structure as a loose framework, this course offers the chance to write about themes such as risk, desire for change, resistance to change, travel, and encounters with others through a variety of prompts. There are opportunities to share your work, but no obligation.

In this self-paced course, you will learn how to use TensorFlow 2 to build deep neural networks. You will learn the basics of machine learning, classification, and regression. We will also discuss the connection between artificial and biological neural networks and how that inspires our thinking in deep learning.

“Weaving the threads” is a twelve-week course which gives participants the opportunity to develop a coherent body of work through a range of expressive creative writing activities. For some, this might mean developing a memoir, for others it might be a collection of poems, or an extended piece of fiction. Participants may also choose to treat the course as a series of one-off sessions.

Ruth has over twenty years of Wood Carving and Pyrography experience and will guide you step by step to create a 2d Relief Carving on a solid piece of Local Wood using traditional gouged and mallets or a design drawn and burnt into the wood. The workshop will take place in an outdoor studio space set on the grounds of the 48 acres Birtley Estate.
