Maria Montessori was at the forefront of her time. In 1870, she became Italy's first female physician, graduating with honors from the medical school in 1896. During her medical career, her clinical observations allowed him to have more opportunities to study children's behavior, such as how they learn, after long-term observation and summary, the final conclusion is that children are constantly discovering and shaping the environment in which they live own character. In 1906, Maria Montessori gave up important positions and practical opportunities in the school with a strong desire to help children, and resolutely came to the side of 60 children who had no time to care because of their parents' work. It was during that time in Italy that she founded the first children's home, the "Children's Home". Montessori found that young children learn from their environment, explore and enjoy them tirelessly. Based on her scientific observations of young children, Montessori teaching method came into being. Every material, every exercise, every set of methods Montessori creates is based on what she observes young children do when they are natural, spontaneous, and without adult assistance. These simple yet profound truths inspired Montessori's lifelong pursuit of educational reform, methodology, psychology, teaching, and teacher training—all from her self-motivation in her research on children.

Our charity delivers support to help those with complex, multiple needs to overcome the barriers they face in moving from dependency on welfare and crime to becoming self-sustaining members of communities. We have long-standing knowledge of how best to address the impact of a criminal record through appropriate forms of disclosure and apply this knowledge to support both job-seekers and employers. We also work with people over many years to help them develop the skills, attributes and the knowledge they need to improve employability and secure paid employment. Our work has helped many people with criminal records to move into further and higher education, access training or start voluntary work, and secure and sustain paid employment (including self-employment). We have worked in the Merseyside region since 1996 offering a tailored service to ex/offenders and those at risk of offending to move away from a life of crime to employment, training, and education (ETE) and voluntary work. We work with local adult ex-offenders to release their full potential and support them to break down the barriers they face.

I have always had a passion for swimming, with over 8 years’ experience in swim teaching I have been able to adapt an approach to swimming that is both enjoyable and educational. Not only is it important for the children to learn to swim from point A to point B, it is important for them to do it confidently and safely. Children have amazing imaginations and this is a central theme to classes. We encourage a family environment, where parents can congratulate their own and other children’s achievements. Rewards are given to children when they achieve something both significant and individually special to them. I started off teaching school age children from beginners to improvers, then expanded into advanced level. I still could not stop there and have broadened my skills to cover teaching adult swimmers and parent and baby classes. After having my daughter, Dottie, I became much more passionate for parent and baby classes. Appreciating first-hand the benefits, nothing is comparable, it is heart-warming to see a happy baby amazed by water. Children tend to take to lessons better and can be swimming independently at a younger age if they have attended parent and baby classes.

Following a highly successful operational and training career in the Royal Navy, he is an experienced Bursar and financial manager. Angie is a fully qualified adult ESOL and EFL teacher (CertEd and Level 5 ESOL subject specialism - University of Southampton; TEFLA Certificate - University of Portsmouth) with over ten year's experience of ESOL and EFL teaching across the full range of proficiency in both class situations and tailored one-to-one tuition for individual and corporate clients. Her background is in commercial and sports management.

Hi, I’m Lucy Branton, owner and founder of Dogholics, and for as long as I can remember I have adored animals, in particular dogs and horses. I have spent my life in training and caring for them. My first dog as an adult was a Sher Pei, at the time the vet told me I had acquired one of the most difficult breeds to train. This didn’t put me off and within a few short months, me and my Shar-Pei Louie were performing in an obedience display team with the Hull Dog Training Club, achieving gold standards in training. My next Shar-Pei became adept at agility, obedience, and rally, even running alongside a horse! Having a natural affinity with dogs and training, I soon set up a local dog training club, as a hobby, it wasn’t long before this became a well-used enterprise. I had to face it I was addicted to dogs! I knew the only way I could get my fix for my addiction was to turn it into a profession and took up dog grooming. I quickly achieved City & Guilds introduction levels locally, then taking further training in London, proving to be natural I achieved distinctions and merits, passing the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. I still wasn’t satisfied and started teacher training, later becoming employed at the Hull College where I originally trained. All of this has led me to want to help others, who like me love their dogs. To help dog owners and their dogs realise their potential, creating a space where dogs and their owners can come together, learn and build amazing bonds with each other. There is no love more addictive than a dog’s love and as dog owner all we ever want to do is to give them back the same love they give us. Here at Dogoholics our mission is: To help all dog owners learn how to care for their dogs in the right way giving them back the love and loyalty they so freely give to us every day of their lives!

If you attend one of our accredited qualification courses, we are also required to collect and hold information about your household situation. This includes whether or not you are the only adult in the household, if any adults in the household are in work, and if there are any children living in the household. It also includes your National Insurance number, employment status and the length of time you have been in this employment. Other types of information collected and held include your highest previous qualification, if you have achieved level 2 in maths or English and any learning difficulties and/or disabilities you have that may impact on your learning. What will we use your data for? Educafe CIC receive Adult Education Budget (AEB) funding from Local Authorities / the Department for Education via the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to support the delivery of education to adults over the age of 19 years from local authority. To receive the funds the service must comply with the ESFA Funding Rules which state we have to collect certain data from you when you enrol upon a course, draw up an individual learning plan or complete post-course evaluation forms/surveys. You can read the rules online at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sfa-funding-rules. We collect “special category” data in respect of any learning difficulties or disabilities you have in order to make sure that we can make adjustments for you to learn effectively. We only use this data for that purpose, and it is only shared with the express purpose of ensuring you can access learning that is in line with the requirements of The Equality Act 2010. We are required to collect and process this data as a condition of receiving funding under SFA funding rules. The data may be also be used to carry out research on the impact of the courses and/or promote other courses or learning opportunities. Who will see your data? Your data will be seen by the Educafe, the local authority and authorised employees in the community learning service. If it is used for marketing and research purposes it may also be seen by third party organisations contracted by Educafe CIC to carry out this role. The ESFA reserve the right to access these records as part of any audit they undertake in order to satisfy themselves that learners exist and the funding is being used in accordance with the ESFA Funding Rules. We are legally processing your personal data through your contract (the enrolment form) to attend an Adult Education Budget funded course. There is also a legal basis for the processing we undertake, as the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 requires the School to create and maintain a unique learner number (ULN). You are under no obligation to give the School permission to use your data for marketing and research purposes, it’s your choice. This is clearly marked on the enrolment form as an “opt-in”. If you don’t wish to be contacted, simply leave the relevant boxes blank. If you opt-in and subsequently decide you don’t wish to hear from the School in the future, just let us know by responding to the emails you receive – we’ll remove you from the distribution list. How long will your data be kept? You have a number of rights when it comes to the data we hold about you. I have had an interest in Art for most of my adult life and having never studied it at school I was nervous of taking up any classes so late in life. However, by chance whilst trying to find local art classes I happened to stumble upon Back Room Art and I sent an enquiring email. From the very first communication Heather put me immediately at ease and gave me the confidence to go to my first class. I joined a wonderful group of people. Heather works well to ensure we are all included in the lessons, working at our own pace and with projects and materials we feel comfortable to use. Heather’s inspiration, openness and motivation have given me a confidence in doing something I never felt capable of doing. Our works are encouraged and praised and Heather’s communication with everyone is brilliant to ensure we all get something out of it. She listens carefully to our aspirations and helps us to achieve them with advice, suggestions and with realistic goals. The facilities we work in are relaxed, friendly and well stocked with all the artistic materials you could wish for, giving me a chance to use resources I would not generally have tried out at home on my own. Coming to this class has given me so much more than just the opportunity to create art; it has opened my eyes to art I would not normally have looked for, expanding my horizons and opportunities. It is the one thing on a Monday that I do look forward to." Her work is vibrant and it is clear she demonstrates her passion for all types of art in her teaching.
