The aim of this course is to equip you with the theoretical knowledge, skills and confidence you need to deal with paediatric first aid situations. It covers all of the key topics including: emergency planning, assessing a situation, basic Life Support, CPR, shock, fractures, bleeding and a range of other minor illness and injuries. Please be aware that having a theoretical knowledge on its own is not enough to be considered competent in paediatric first aid and practical demonstration in some areas is required to complete this training. 1 Day Emergency First Aid Description: The 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work course is nationally recognised. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations. This one-day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only, is sufficient for your workplace.It is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller or a low risk working environment. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and care of the unconscious requires physical effort. Learners should be capable of working with casualties at floor level. Learners receive an Emergency First Aid guide book, a training dressing and a CPR barrier protection device. The HSE strongly recommend that all First Aiders undertake annual refresher training of at least 3 hours per year. This accredited Two-Day First-Aid at Work Course is designed for those who currently hold a First-Aid Qualification that is due to expire and meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. The Certificate is valid for 3 years and will expire from the date on the certificate. Paediatric First Aid Paediatric First Aid at Work Two Day Course Cost:  £125 + vat per person This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first-aid situations. This two-day qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.  SYLLABUS A range of subjects is covered, including: Role of the Paediatric First Aider Primary survey Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) Wounds, bleeding and shock Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis Head, neck and back injuries Seizure Choking Minor injuries Recovery position Fractures Foreign bodies Diabetic emergencies Asthma Meningitis Febrile convulsions Extreme cold and heat Electrical incidents Maximum of 12 People Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify. Numbers A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. CERTIFICATION The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years. This course is for holders of a current First Aid at Work qualification which is due to expire.

Recent changes to Forestry Commission policy recommend those who work in the Forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work. The Forestry Commission recommend topics including: Crush Injuries Catastrophic bleeding including chainsaw including chainsaw injuries and gun shot wounds Hypothermia / Exposure Suspension injuries Lyme's Disease Lightning & High Voltage injuries Casualty evacuation planning These are in addition to the normal Emergency First Aid criteria. Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers. First Aid training – Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) (FAA Award Level 2) is QCF, Ofqual and HSE approved awarding organisation. This course delivered over a minimum of 6 hours is both practical and theoretical covering responsibilities of the first aider, reporting, first aid hygiene, bleeding, shock, seizures, assessments, resuscitation, angina, heart attacks, choking, minor injuries and dealing with an unresponsive casualty, compliant with the latest health and safety executive regulations and guidelines. ATTIRE AND DRESS CODE We would recommend for all female candidates to wear trousers, comfortable shoes so that they can all practice the technique of CPR effectively on the CPR manikins.
