Level 3 First Aid at Work Re-qualification (FAW-Refresher) Remember that as soon as a certificate expires, the First Aider is no longer considered competent to act as a First Aider in the workplace. Suitability This course is for holders of a current First Aid at Work qualification which is due to expire, or where candidates would like to refresh and update their first aid aid knowledge, and re-validate their qualification for a further three years. Description
This qualification provides learners with skills and knowledge, over 2 days, to deal with first aid. This course renews existing qualifications and consists of 12 contact hours, including of practical and theoretical activities. Course Content

* Responsibilities of the First Aider. * Chest & abdominal injuries
* Action in an Emergency * Specialised burn injuries
* Primary Survey * Eye injuries
* Secondary Assessment * Poisoning
* The Respiratory System * Anaphylaxis
* Resuscitation & AED * Major illnesses
* Disorders of respiration * Disorders of circulation * Wounds & Bleeding * Seizures * Minor Burns and Scalds
* Foreign objects Additional sessions (if relevant)
* Extreme heat & cold injuries
* Bites & Stings How is this course assessed? Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper after each day, and a three-year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of three hours.
