SwingFit is a dance fitness class for the young at heart. With dance steps and music from the Swing era, you’ll forget you’re exercising as you dance along to the Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jive and many more. SwingFit began as a class for an NHS ‘Arts for Wellbeing’ programme in 2010 and it quickly grew in popularity with ladies aged 50+ due to the easy-to-follow moves with lively tunes from the 1920s to 1960s. Many of our ladies say that they come for fitness and they stay for the friendship. Although many of our members are aged 50+, all ladies aged 18+ are welcome to SwingFit. You need to be in good health to attend but you do not need to know how to dance as SwingFit is a dance-along class where you copy the teacher. Just come along wearing your favourite T-shirts, leggings and smooth-soled trainers and you’re good to go. Oh yes, and bring a bottle of water! Probably the best Treetop adventure in Scotland. A selection of three family-orientated courses starting with adventures from 5yrs to adults. Ideal outdoor activity adventure for those seeking a pure adrenaline rush, lots of fresh air, fun & awesome scenery. Along with the other activities on the estate such as Archery, Crate Stacking, Tree Absail, Mud Run, Team Building activities, it is ideal for families, individuals, corporate team building, school & youth groups and adventure parties for all age groups. Safety is always at the forefront of our minds therefore we use a continuous belay system that is easy and simple for all users. You simply slide the safety line from one of the obstacle to the next along the safety wire, no need to click on and click off between activities. Treetop Trials circuit will take between 45 minutes to 3 hours from harnessing up to complete depending on the experience chosen, fitness and agility. Fun, adventure, excitement in beautiful woodland, and amazing for wellbeing what more could you ask for?

The HEY LEP will represent the region’s private sector in conversations with Government on economic development and ensure the region’s influence is maintained at NP11, Northern Powerhouse and Transport for the North as well as looking for opportunities to collaborate on geographical or sector issues with other parts of the UK and Yorkshire. The LEP appointed its first Board members on March 31st 2021, made up of a diverse group of leaders from across local business and the health, education, rural and voluntary communities, who will now begin developing a new evidence-based local strategy. This strategy will identify the actions needed to boost productivity, provide long term jobs and secure inward investment and government support. The strategy will also focus on the key priorities for funding and the allocation of resources to those priorities, which are the most important to the economic wellbeing of the new LEP geography. The LEP will also be charged with using its convening powers to bring together partners from the private, public and other sectors, alongside collaborating with a wide-range of local partners to act as an informed and independent voice for Hull and East Yorkshire.

When 2020 came along and shoogled everything up, personal trainers Willow and Lynette decided it was time to adapt and thrive by combining their fierce ambition, expert knowledge and vision of a new kinda studio space in the city: One prepared to educate, empower, nurture and inspire women/trans-women to improve their relationship their bodies for a lifetime. We’ve all been in a gym or exercise facility in the past and felt a little out of sorts. At the beating heart of AF is a strength and skill first approach to exercise and wellbeing that combats intimidation. Helping our members get confident about what they can do is a top priority for Adapt Fitness because we believe that celebrating and challenging our potential leads to long-term fitness results. Besides, we think there’s a lot more to being a woman than just looking good. Our fitness experiences are specialised in but not exclusive to developing athletic characteristics in women/trans-women; if you have a body, you’re welcome to move it under our roof. We welcome all shapes, sizes, sexes, genders, sexualities, cultures, ethnicities and levels of fitness to the AF community!

Yoga and Pilates are important practices for me. They helped me realign with wellness after a period of feeling at odds with my body and mind. These practices help me cultivate awareness and self-inquiry – allowing for more depth and meaning in my life. My own practice might be simply sitting in stillness with my breath, restorative yoga for calming my nervous system or a Vinyasa Flow to work out stagnant energy. The principles of yoga and Pilates are tools for living in this world and I am so grateful to share this work so that you too can support your wellbeing off the mat. I am trained in 200hr Hatha and Restorative yoga at the highly acclaimed Bristol School of Yoga under Laura Gilmore. I am also a trained Pilates Teacher with the Physiotherapy and Pilates Rehabilitation Centre in Clevedon, Somerset with Karen Pearce and Sarah Sessa. I’m from the countryside and my senses are always pulling me towards more time outside. Being present with the smells, sounds, and textures of our Earth allows me to keep marvelling at the mystery of this life.

LADS aims to provide a proactive approach to tackling social issues, mental health & wellbeing alongside practical interventions for men and boys of all ages. The LADS project is a long-term initiative for West Yorkshire, set up with Men and Boys at its heart with a focus on ethnic minority communities including faith communities, marginalised communities, intersectionality, socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Our focus is on Intervention and prevention. The project is a co-production and co-design model of service delivery. LADS aims to work in partnership and have a coordinated approach to service design. We will build on these partnerships and collaborate to ensure the services we provide continually meets our clients’ needs. We will develop Prevention and Intervention programs that fit with the communities we serve. We will do this by involving the community through our member’s groups alongside community cohesion work. We aim to work with and alongside mens groups and women’s groups to end VAWG and VAM&B’s, ensuring we support men from diverse Muslim communities and ethnic minority backgrounds to ensure the wider vision of ending VAM&B and VAWG is reachable.
