The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is honoured to be the UK’s leading specialist residential college of further education for people with a visual impairment. Since 1872, we have been building on our expertise and successes, which enable the College to offer a variety of products and services to a diverse audience. It’s not all about education for the 100 or so students who come through our doors each year. We also offer specialist training and support to businesses, universities and other education providers, and specialist professionals working with visually impaired people. From philanthropic beginnings in London to Shropshire, via a brief stay in Kent as World War II broke, to finally settling in Hereford, RNC has remained a beacon for people with a variety of visual impairments to increase their independence, build confidence and to learn academically, vocationally and socially. The College is proud of its 150 year history and of the pioneering work it continues to do, including sports, lobbying, work based learning and independent living skills. We have 2 parallel classes in each of the year groups in Key Stage 2 as well as a dedicated Enhanced Resource Unit for pupils with a diagnosis of Autism. Founded in 2016, Breakdown Bolton is a community interest company which is peer led by qualified and experienced artists who have had experience of mental health issues. We work in many different art forms and aim to offer our participants high quality arts classes, exhibition, and cultural opportunities. We do this by promoting high level creativity, individual expression, and empowerment through art, in a safe and positive environment for those across the Greater Manchester region. At Breakdown Bolton we focus on increasing accessibility to art for those with lived experience of mental health and substance misuse issues. We are passionate about breaking down the barriers, stigma and prejudice and raising awareness of these issues. Breakdown Bolton can provide a stepping stone towards further artistic development for a person whose education, employment, and creative practices have been interrupted by poor mental health or substance misuse issues. At Breakdown Bolton we have a diverse range of skills within the team which we use to develop and deliver projects of the highest quality. We are professional artists educated at University level, having had visual artwork and writing published and commissioned. Our members have been awarded both individual and collective grants from bodies such as the Arts Council and are Unltd Alumni. In 2017, Breakdown Bolton was nominated for a National Diversity Award. Since then, we have been recipients of a New Art Space through Castlefield Gallery, worked closely with NeoArtists in Bolton, and have forged strong working partnerships with regional arts education organisations such as theatres, galleries, and local community services.

About Sarah's Swim Academy Safety, fun and fitness - these are the key values we at Sarah’s Swim Academy advocate. In the South African context, water is everywhere. For a child who cannot swim, this can lead to disaster. It becomes particularly dangerous if the adults around a child cannot swim either. An instance where a child who innocently stumbles into a bucket of water, falls from a boat, leans over too far while looking at fish in a fish pond, falls or is pushed by another child into a pool could turn deadly if that child can't swim. From our watertoddlers to our adults, the safety of all our swimmers is our first priority. Swimming is an extremely important life saving skill that you should not neglect. Our philosophy is simple To passionately deliver the highest quality swimming experience to toddlers, children and adults while staying safe, having fun and keeping fit. Our classes are built around safety in the water. Our focus is to teach swimming from toddler to adulthood in a safe environment for all swimmers. We encourage parents to get involved in teaching their toddlers basic safety skills in the water and we assist parents to develop their toddlers’ natural swimming ability. As with any activity, an element of fun must always be present. Fun motivates us to continue to learn and hang in there when things become a little more challenging. We achieve this through play, which creates a fun and exciting environment for all levels of swimmers.

My love of horticulture grew after starting an allotment 6 years ago at the school where I used to teach. I have always enjoyed nature and wildlife, but wanted to explore the possibilities that learning outdoors could have. After teaching in the classroom for 14 years (at that point) I had no idea of the impact gardening would have on my students. It has been simply magical to watch. I have witnessed first hand the positive impact nurturing a garden can have, and not just on a personal level! Everyone should garden - it is SO good for you! Gardening after a day in work was simply not enough, so three years ago I enrolled on a horticultural course with the Royal Horticultural Society at Ness Gardens, I have taken floral design classes and I'm using my teaching skills to hold workshops so that others can enjoy plants and flowers regardless of whether they have a garden or not. An opportunity arose to hold my own planting workshops at Make in Liverpool and an idea for Emma's Wild Garden grew from there, I finally had a creative outlet for my plant passion and I could share it with others. As well as providing workshops, I have been creating my own terrariums as gifts and then to sell. Gardening doesn't have to involve wearing wellies - although I love my bumblebee pair - it can be done whatever the weather and using beautiful glassware and stylish planters for any room in your home.
