Life hasn't been easy, i've been to the very lows but its all helped me grow as a person to where i am now. It has been incredibly tough, i knew it wasn't going to be easy but no one told me how hard it would be. I didn't do great at school, i only got 2 C's and nothing higher. I never let that hold me back as i was far to determined. When i decided i wanted to create my own Tumble Academy (as thats how it started) i put £500 of my saving into an account to create 'GymForce'. The website, insurance, leaflets and t-shirts. Why Gym Force? I feel like having a sport I adored help me so much in my adult life in many ways. I’m a very confident, motivated, ambitious person and I have gymnastics to thank for that. I would love for more children to have that in life. I feel like GymForce has a lot to give. As a small club we know everyone that walks through the door. We get complimented a lot on this. It’s more than just a club, we have/make time for each and every athlete, even their parents! I will continue to make personal little touches to my club that other ‘big’ clubs don’t currently offer. The Start of the journey... I started gymnastics when I was three, and I absolutely loved it. Especially floor! I just loved to tumble, that was my thing. As I got older I did more and more hours working my way up to club level. I felt that having gymnastics in my life helped me stay focused and on the right track when some of my friendship group didn’t. I wasn’t one to do well at school, reading and writing was not for me. I just wanted to be active all the time. So I had decided from a very young age that I would love to go into sports and coaching. I started coaching at 14 as a leader, it was great as I got to save money towards my first car.

I am a Reiki Master and a Personal Development Coach. I work with healing energy and give therapy treatments to enhance well-being. I first trained in 2005 and this is when I started teaching reiki and giving healing sessions. I retrained in 2009 with Penelope Quest, who is an international author of several best-selling reiki books. She only taught a couple of reiki courses each year as she was so busy writing. I couldn't wait to enrol on her next course, where I learnt many of the traditional Japanese methods of reiki healing.  Previously, I was a business studies lecturer for 13 years and I was also a mentor for the Princes' Trust, helping others to develop their skills into having their own full-time business. Currently I coach my own students in the area of personal development such as goal setting, managing emotions and building confidence.  In my teaching I am always delighted to share my knowledge and experiences of reiki and personal development and my students come from all over the UK. When I am not working I enjoy singing, reading and I have been learning Italian for a couple of years. The Grafton Academy of Fashion Design was founded in 1938 by Pauline Elizabeth Keller Clotworthy. Born in 1912, Pauline was brought up in a large house in Glenageary, with several generations of family around her. Pauline showed a keen interest in sketching and writing and went on to study at Dublin's Metropolitan School of Art (now the National College of Art and Design). It was there that one of Pauline's tutors, artist Seán Keating cautioned her on turning her life drawing into fashion illustrations, this only encouraged Pauline who then went on to study the art of representing fabrics and textures using watercolour in Browns Paris School of Fashion in London. Upon her return to Dublin, Pauline was advised to further educate herself on how to realise her fashion drawings. Pauline returned to London to train at the British institute of Dress Designing. Pauline, understanding that she had benefited from an education that was not available in Ireland, decided she wanted to share the skills she had acquired. Shortly after graduating in 1938, Pauline established the Grafton Academy, Ireland's first design school and within a year it had staged its debut show. Early graduates from the college include Neilli Mulcahy, Ib Jorgensen and Clodagh Phillips, all of whom made a significant contribution in promoting Irish fashion culture, both home and abroad.
