porcupine upholstery
Dunfermline
Porcupine Upholstery offers a specialist upholstery service, working with both
traditional and modern materials. Furniture made pre 1950 was made to last, with
wooden frames using traditional jointing methods of dowel and glue and covered
in the sturdiest of fabrics. Padding was horsehair. Working with any piece made
to these methods, proprietor Paula Graham can usually repair, clean and re-use
the original materials or recreate the original effect. Every refurbished piece
will meet all current Fire and Safety Regulations, and all fabrics used will
have the best possible durability, as measured by the Martindale Rub Test. This
internationally recognised test uses discs to rub sandpaper or wool across a
fabric, to assess its ability to withstand wear and tear in either domestic or
commercial contexts. You are assured of a quality finish that will provide
pleasure and utility for decades to come.
