Mental Health "First Aid" Training
In this free and welcoming session, you’ll learn how to reduce stress and anxiety using one of the most powerful tools you already have: your breath. This practical class is designed to help you identify the signs of stress in your body and mind, and gently guide you toward restoring balance using simple, effective breathing techniques. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply in need of a moment of calm, you’ll leave with easy-to-use tools that can support your well-being anytime, anywhere. Through guided exercises and gentle breathwork, we’ll explore: How to recognise stress and anxiety patterns in your daily life Why the breath is such a powerful tool for emotional regulation A variety of simple breathing techniques to calm the nervous system How to use breath as a grounding practice in moments of overwhelm A short relaxation practice to integrate what you’ve learned No previous experience needed—just bring yourself, comfortable clothing, and a willingness to breathe. During this 3 hour workshop, you will learn why it is important to detach from work and every day life, which will improve the wellbeing of both your physical and mental health. Y ou will learn some easy and effective methods of relaxation, that can be incorporated into every day life. You will learn of the importance of sleep. Understand that the workshop does not cover all methods of relaxation and methods to detach, and that not all methods of relaxation can be, or will be, suitable for all sufferers of work-related stress. This workshop is aimed at the employed, volunteers and self-employed who want to learn simple ways to ‘switch off’ from work. Helping you to have a healthier relationship with yourself, your loved ones, your work and improved sleep.
CORPORATE TRAINING There are currently 13 million women going through menopause in the UK. 4.3 million of them are aged between 45-55 years old, which is the fastest growing demographic in the workforce SB Wellbeing provides training for companies who are serious about providing support for their female staff going through menopause. Also, up-skilling managers and leaders on what they need to know. Manager training includes what menopause is, how it can affect the individual at work, as well as the bigger picture of how it can impact the business, and how best to support them. Colleague training is for anyone going through menopause or supporting someone who is. It's fully inclusive and highly interactive. Alexis has professional experience in the following roles: - Mental Health Practitioner & Data Analyst for BWW Mind - Chair of Central & North West London (CNWL) NHS Mental Health Ambassador Group - Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the WïSH Centre - National Lived Experience Partner for NHS England She has filmed with the CNWL and was recently part of a team nominated at the Health Service Journal awards for Reducing Healthcare Inequalities for Children and Young People award. She has also been a guest-speaker at The Listening Place, a charity focused on helping those with suicidal thoughts. She will be joining us to specifically discuss topics of isolation, substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Even if you are fortunate enough not to be struggling with your mental health currently, it is always worth being aware of the signs and knowing how to help others, so please consider coming along to this event if you feel comfortable doing so.
What is Mental Health First Aid? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. MHFA England training won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis. Adult MHFA England courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards. Every MHFA England course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor Member who has attended our Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn. What will I learn? − A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing, including your own − Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues − Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress − Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening − Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support.
