We provide the Knowledge base that can Change thinking and perspective so that our communities can take Action to transform the lives of others. 'Achieving breakthrough outcomes for children experiencing significant adversity requires that we support the adults who care for them to transform their own lives.' From report 'Best Practices to Breakthrough Impacts', Harvard 2016 KCA (previously known as Kate Cairns Associates) was established in 2011 to bring together the work of Kate Cairns and a group of experienced practitioners and trainers across the UK. We are now registered as Knowledge Change Action Ltd, and as of October 2021 we have become an Employee Owned Trust. As an employee-owned organisation KCA aspires to be a beacon to those who want to lead sustainable organisations, rooted in their local communities, where employees are active decision makers shaping their future together. Our small, experienced team, managed from our Head Office in Gloucestershire, has an excellent track record in running effective training programmes, rooted in the science-based theory of attachment, trauma and resilience, that are responsive to the changing needs and priorities of our Commissioners. KCA office 98.8% of the 12,478 participants who completed KCA evaluation forms between March 2020 and March 2021 said that they would recommend the training to their colleagues At KCA, relationships are key to everything we do – whether that is the relationships between our colleagues that ensure that we feel supported, enthused and committed to our work, the relationships with our commissioners that allow us to understand and respond effectively to their needs, or supporting practitioners, through our training and consultancy, to develop effective connected relationships with the children, families and teams with whom they work. Since 2011 we have delivered training to over 140,000 practitioners across the UK, to promote resilience in the individuals and networks supporting the most vulnerable people in our society. Our quality assurance processes are robust, and we take feedback and evaluation seriously, promoting our own learning and working with our associates to develop their skills. We work with commissioners to build-in effective evaluation systems that enable us to demonstrate impact on learning, confidence and practice and we seek structured feedback from our consultancy customers as each contract is completed. Being different wasn’t easy for me. I grew up in a school and feared going in every day. I would get called names and my glasses would be thrown from person to person while I tried to catch them!! I was tall, I was skinny, and I didn’t have the same colour skin like them. I was in a predominantly white school, with only a handful of Asians and no Black people at all. I stuck out like a sore thumb!! I hated it!! I did whatever I could to try and fit in and blend into the crowd. There were many times where I cried myself to sleep. The wanting of belonging was heavy in my heart. As you can imagine this affected me growing up. Growing up I barely had a voice, or an opinion on anything. My self esteem was so low, I hated the way I looked, and most of all I hated being at the centre of attention. The years passed and I got married at the age of 22. I thought I had it all, a home, a husband and my beautiful little boy. I could put the past behind me. This all came crashing down when the relationship with my husband came to an end. I moved back in with my parents and went through 4 years of battling the court system over our young boy. I was made out to be an unfit mother who couldn’t be capable of looking after our son. I became really down, I mean really down!!….. I suffered from panic attacks and depression, and really hated myself, and my life. I remember one day driving my car and all of a sudden I had to pull over!! My eyes had become hazy and I couldn’t see properly, my breathing became shallow and my chest was hurting! I could feel the panic rising as I dialed my dad’s number to come and get me from the side of the road. I felt broken, completely shattered both mentally and physically. I thought there was something seriously wrong with me and that I needed to be fixed! The day came, I remember it so clearly. I was in the kitchen after putting my son to bed. I was just about to take my depression medication and something inside of me just flipped, like a light switch. I could hear a voice in my head very clearly. This is not my life, this is not how I am supposed to live. I took action. I threw the pills in the bin, ( I don’t recommend this unless you speak with your GP) and said enough is enough, no one can change things for me, I have to do this myself! At that point I became determined to change my life around and I would do anything I needed to do to get myself better. That day I googled stress and panic attacks, and days that followed I read more and more. I could see I wasn’t the only one suffering. I started to see a glimmer of hope. I came across a Kundalini yoga DVD called Stress and Detox, the teacher had the same name as me, Maya, so I saw it as a sign that I needed to give this a go. I had tried yoga before but this was something so different on many levels. It was weird, she did some funny breathing and chanted words I didn’t understand but I kept an open mind and continued. I felt different, I felt better than I had done in ages. After practicing consistently for a few weeks I remember telling my friend I felt like I was drunk without the alcohol. I was getting high on life, and I was beginning to see a way out. This was my journey of how I found Kundalini Yoga. Over the years, I discovered I had a lot of health issues due to stress, I had no idea that stress could do this to my body. I thought stress was just all in the head. How wrong was I! My digestive system was way off track, I had become intolerant to so many foods. I suffered from severe lower back pain for years, where I had to take pain killers most nights. I also suffered with UTI’s pretty much every other week, and horrific migraine attacks where I would be bed bound at least 8 – 10 days a month, they were so painful and I was unable to function at all. As well as Kundalini yoga ( the yoga of awareness) I worked with Ayurvedic practices (an ancient health care tradition from India dating back over 5,000 years.) It’s where you work with your mind/ body type to bring yourself back into balance. I also practiced Mindfulness, and Art therapy. I found peace by being creative, it took my mind off the worry, it brought me joy to see the things I created, and I still love it now. I learnt to slow down my breathing and my overactive mind, and my body started to follow, relax and heal itself. All these practices and experiences of life have made me who I am today! I wouldn’t change it for anything now. I have learnt so much from these experiences and now I can help other people in similar situations. I know going through divorce was hard and at the time I couldn’t see an end. However, it gave me a new lease of life, a new sense of freedom. To live life on my terms and I love it! I remarried and have an amazing relationship with my husband, whom I truly love and trust. I can completely be myself, I do not have to pretend to be someone who I am not. My son is living between both houses. He is now 15 and l love spending time with him and love his big squeezy hugs when I can get them out of him. And the ex husband is still in the picture and is a great dad to our son. From a life that I hated, to a life that I love! I know once I took back control of my life and made my choices consciously, everything changed for me. This allowed me to set my boundaries and move forward step by step. It wasn’t easy but I did it. This process allowed me to create my life rather than to let life happen to me. If I can deal with a marriage ending, and child custody battle through the courts, that resulted in me being at my lowest point, ever! The stress, the anxiety, the health issues and the feeling of being helpless, incapable and unhappy, then you can too. This is why I do what I do. I love to help people feel better, feel better in their mind, their physical body, help them to connect and learn to love themself. And uplift their soul. It gives me great pleasure to see them smile and actually know it’s for real, and it’s coming from deep within the heart. This is why I call myself the Conscious Change Creator. I am here to help you create change consciously.

We are a cookery school for disabled adults 18 plus. At StedyChefs we teach all about the joy and fun to be had whilst cooking ,not only helping improve life skills but building self confidence and making friends along the way. Our whole building is covered in fun graffiti, our chefs wear a full uniform and different coloured bandanas making their time here as fun as possible. We also teach other activities such as art and music, the Beatles actually played in our building in 1961. Our chefs cook everything from scratch and not only this, they grow their own vegetables in our outside space as well as doing outside cooking in warmer months. Our chefs do food related trips also once every six weeks. Some of our chefs volunteer and in the past have worked in local cafes and football stadiums. Our youngest student is 18 and our eldest is 63 years old. The food our chefs create on a daily basis can only be described as phenomenal. We are also part of the International Cookery School Association (School Of Excellence) We also teach our students health and safety in the kitchen. We recently had Merseyside Fire Brigade in our centre to deliver a lesson on hazards that may occur in a kitchen and how to handle them safely. Merseyside Police have also attended our centre to deliver on a lesson on how to stay safe when using the internet. In January of this year, seven of our students gained their Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene In The Kitchen qualification. It took us over a year of visually and verbally training our students in preparation for their test. As they passed, they are now able to legally work in a professional kitchen environment. One of the students is now actively looking for paid work in the catering sector using his newly acquired qualification. We have also partnered with The Trussell Trust and are now running a food bank from or building with the help of our wonderful students.

MARK DEVEREUX PROJECTS (MDP) IS AN INDEPENDENT CURATORIAL AND ARTIST DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION. WE SPECIALISE IN SUPPORTING EARLY TO MID-CAREER ARTISTS THROUGH CREATIVE COLLABORATION AND TAILORED MENTORING. MDP is a small but devoted team seeking to create safer, braver spaces for artists. Our meticulous approach is founded on listening, trust, honesty and caring. We build critical but nurturing relationships with artists across a variety of artforms. We collaborate with artists across the UK to develop and curate ambitious creative projects, ranging from touring solo exhibitions to participatory workshops. This challenges artists through creative risk-taking while introducing their practice to new audiences. Our work creates new paid opportunities for artists that aren’t freely available. Our professional development work focuses on the individual artist, offering a unique pathway outside of institutional programmes. Since 2013 we have provided hundreds of artists with invaluable advice, guidance and critique through one-to-one mentoring sessions, specialist workshops and national artist development programmes. We ensure that our professional development activities are affordable and seek to help artists when cost is a barrier. The original Oxford Wine Company was founded in 1840 and traded from 125 High Street, Oxford until 1914. The name was revived in the early 1990s by Ted Sandbach, metamorphosing from ‘The Oxford Hamper Company through ‘The Oxford Wine and Hamper Company’ and finally becoming ‘The Oxford Wine Company’ in the Spring of 1992. Since then expansion has been rapid and the company now bears very little resemblance to its relatively humble origins in Ted’s garage! These days, The Oxford Wine Company is a multi-award winning local independent wine merchant with a national profile. The company has achieved a Top 10 spot in Harpers Wine & Spirit 50 Best Indies every year, and has won multiple prestigious awards such as ‘Small Chain of the Year’ in the Drinks Retailing Awards and ‘Regional Merchant of the Year’ in the International Wine Challenge. The Oxford Wine Company has three shops in Oxford: on the Botley Road, Turl Street (just around the corner from the original Oxford Wine Company site) and since 2020 on Little Clarendon Street. There is also a shop at the company’s headquarters in Standlake (just outside Witney). In addition to the retail shops we have a thriving wholesale arm, supplying a large range of restaurants, bars and other businesses throughout the South of England, and even have a sales arm in Wales. Our team are passionate about wine and have the qualifications to prove it. Seven of the company’s staff hold the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma, and a further four are studying towards this industry benchmark qualification. Having a dog is one of the most incredible experience's life can offer. Or so I was told. I found a great breeder who I met at a show. Her dogs were beautiful, and my heart melted as I watched them trot around the show ring. I couldn't wait for my boy to arrive. Prior to him joining the family, I spent hours watching and reading books to prepare for his arrival. So, he arrives, and I was over the moon, to put it lightly. Four weeks into having this tiny, lively puppy, who was 12 weeks old, I got the shock of my life! My little Ted, my beautiful boy, gave me the biggest, angriest bite you could imagine. His teeth crushed my fingers, leaving them bruised and bloody. This was not a dog but a Tasmanian devil. Although my hand hurt, my heart was crushed. It's very easy to fall out of love with a dog you can't trust. As you can imagine, I was devastated and realised that I needed to learn more so this incident didn't happen again. I spent an enormous amount of time researching and putting into practice what I had learnt. I found that the style of "Old School Punishment" just wasn't working with Ted. I understand why looking back with the knowledge I am blessed with now. There is so much information out there, books, television programmes, YouTube videos, blogs. It's a minefield and so easy to travel down the wrong path, and I certainly had taken the wrong path for Ted and me. Unfortunately, I learned how to be mean, how to shout and even hurt my puppy, asserting my dominance, to show him who was boss and Nip it in the Bud. Honestly, in a world where we already control our dogs, be it when they're fed, what is given, when we take them for a walk, who they can stop and say hello to, when and if they can have a treat. How much control do we need? Fortunately, very fortunately, I met a fabulous lady called Lynda Edmondson, who ran a doggy dancing class near me. It was here that I was introduced to a totally different world of training, of positive reinforcement where you motivated your dog to learn and work as a team. These times were truly magical, filled with fun, and my eyes were opened to a kind way to train. I learnt to love my dog for who he was, to stop focussing on the negative. We then attended a monthly clicker workshop with Lynda, and this was when Ted and me came into our own, and I loved to show off what we could both achieve together. Ted is an English toy Terrier with a huge personality which I fully appreciate and can now accept. After many years on a journey of learning and training to become a specialist in my field, which was initially to support Ted, I qualified with the IABTC. I completed their dog training and behavioural modification course. I now enjoy a career that I love. I am still committed to learning and keep up to date with new research. In my previous life, I was a time and motion technician in a clothing factory. I would study people, then create a process to train others to complete the work more efficiently. Saving companies time and money. I suppose it's quite similar to what I am offering you as a dog trainer. I will study your dog and your relationship, then create a process of training that can be carried out and repeated to improve behaviour. Reduce the amount of time wasted looking online, reading endless books, leaving you none the wiser. Tap into my knowledge and all of the time and money I've spent learning how not to do things as much as how to do things. My main aim is to set you up to succeed. If you are successful, then I'm successful. I will give you my full support to learn how to make immediate changes, enjoy the mischief and appreciate your dog's true personality.
