Our Help When You Need It service offers outcome based support for women with practical and emotional support needs, living in Bristol. The service recognises that women with mental health issues have times when they are well, and times when they need support. This service can be accessed as and when you need it. If your mental health is impacting on how you are living your life, our service may be able to help you. We offer short to medium term, outcome focused, practical and emotional support to women with mental health needs who live in Bristol. We use variety of communication methods from phone and text, email, virtual platforms, limited face to face. We also offer group work. We work closely with adult care and anyone can refer to our service and you can self refer. When you contact us you will speak to our triage worker to assess if we can help you immediately or over the short term. Our lines are open Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.30pm. Should you need more support you may be referred to a support worker.

September may seem quite a way off but in reality, it’s only three months. For the first time, ALSG is holding a virtual conference which given many of us are trying to catch up post pandemic (fingers crossed) as well as working, to then attend a conference this year seemed a lot to be asking. ALSG is excited, as not only is it the first conference we’ve hosted online but the programme is shaping up extremely well. The conference theme is ‘How to be an even better ALSG instructor’ and we’ve got some fantastic speakers delivering some really great content specifically designed to support our instructors and centres. Whilst there are a few sessions yet to be finalised, the programme so far will examine issues such as looking after yourself and your team, the effects of sleep deprivation on performance, as well as clinical matters such as changes in the UK to the major incident triage process and insights into pain and sedation management in children. west essex mind (t/a mind in west essex)

Mind in West Essex supports people affected by mental ill health, predominantly across West Essex to make positive changes in their lives and to improve their emotional resilience. We also aim to normalise the conversation around mental health and in doing so reduce the stigma that can be a barrier to people accessing the support that could help them to improve their quality of life. We provide a range of services in order to help us deliver on these aims, these include: counselling as part of the NHS psychological therapies service; a private counselling service; Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training; emotional resilience training; peer support; befriending to reduce isolation; bereavement work and community support. In addition to the above client facing services we also run a Mental Health Referral Triage service on behalf of West Essex CCG. This service processes all GP mental health referrals across West Essex and passes them on to the relevant provider. We have an active presence on social media platforms as part of our efforts to normalise mental health and engage with the public in a way that is accessible to a wide range of people. We are an independent, local, registered charity (Charity number 1091154) with a board of trustees drawn from the communities that we serve. We also affiliate to the national charity Mind; this means that we are part of a network of 140 other local Mind charities. The services we provide are delivered by a team of 34 staff and 60 volunteers. We’re Mind in West Essex, your expert mental health partner. Our network across England and Wales provide services that are practical and rooted in the reality of people’s lives.

Our Academy consists of almost 1500 learners with 215 students in Huish Sixth. Set in the heart of the beautiful Somerset levels we have a catchment area of approximately 200 sq miles and work with 11 partner primary schools within our Community Learning Partnership. As an Academy we are consistently oversubscribed with large numbers of pupils joining us from beyond our catchment area. We have a staff of almost 200 teachers and support staff with 98 teachers split across a range of faculties and departments. Larger faculties include Mathematics, English, Science and Modern Languages while other areas such as the Arts and Humanities are based on smaller departments. Within our structures we have Progress Leaders in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Post-16 who are responsible for the monitoring of standards and ensuring that every pupil makes the maximum amount of progress. These Progress Leaders are supported by Student Support Workers, who much like a triage nurse in a hospital, will offer an immediate service and then refer students on for more serious issues such as safeguarding. The heart of our pastoral system is based around the Student Services Hub which also houses our Parent and Family Support Adviser, Counsellor and Attendance Officer. We are very conscious that many of our pupils will be joining from smaller primary schools, and so we have a very well established transition programme to support pupils who join our Academy. Pupils meet their tutor every morning and afternoon to "touch base" as well as check planners and undertake a variety of learning activities within our Extra Curriculum Time programme. Huish Episcopi Academy has an excellent reputation and is recognised as a place where all pupils are inspired and challenged to go beyond what they ever thought was possible for them both in terms of academic standards and experiences beyond the classroom. This is reflected in our belief that developing rounded individuals who are not only academically successful, but who also have opportunities to develop other key skills, such as leadership, teamwork and communication, which will give them the edge when it comes to future challenges. This continues to be very important within Huish Sixth where both employment and university places depend on being able to rise above the rest. We believe in offering "results plus" so that great academic outcomes alongside a host of memorable learning experiences combine to produce an individual student with great attributes such as aspiration, leadership, empathy and confidence alongside fantastic academic achievements. In addition to the great learning and social environment within Huish Sixth we are able to offer a highly experienced team of teachers and support staff with a great track record of achieving the very best results possible for students. Equally though Huish Sixth is small enough to get to know students as people, to understand their aspirations and educational needs so that we can ensure they get a personalised package of challenge and support.
