The charity originally called South Cumbria Rape and Abuse Service (SCRAS), was established by Christine Birchall in 1991 as a community response to the lack of support for rape and sexual abuse victims in the local area. It originally operated as an entirely volunteer based organisation supported by community fundraising. The organisation has successfully developed into an established service provider, whilst still retaining its original ethos and local identity. All of our staff are qualified to the relevant level and counsellors are registered with BACP/BAPT – if required clients can request to view training certificates or accreditation awards to verify competency. We are a registered charity (number: 1109637), and a company limited by guarantee (number: 5424196) ●We provide face to face and remote trauma informed counselling services ● We deliver play therapy, creative and sand tray therapy for children aged 4 and above ●We offer pre-trial therapy sessions to adults and children whilst involved in the criminal justice process ●We work with parents, carers, families, and friends of people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence ●We hold groups, peer support sessions and offer outdoor therapies ●We deliver educational programmes, training, and consultancy to other agencies – voluntary and statutory ●We have online digital information and resources ●We raise awareness of the wider issues around rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence within our community

I completed my first teacher training with The Frame Academy in 2017, whilst working full time in London. Since then I have been enjoying the process of continuously learning, growing and challenging myself with various trainings, amazing teachers and many different inspirations. I believe the healing, calming power of nature, and after 5 years in the big smoke I recently left to spend more time by the big sea. I love being in, on or by the sea, my Moroccan rescue dog Pumba, coffee, poetry, campfires and planning retreats, adventures (and adventurous retreats). After five years in London and a long lockdown in a little surf village on the Moroccan coast, I am now in the New Forest. I completed my first training 200 hour vinyasa teacher training with Emily-Clare Hill and Michael James Wong at the Frame Academy. I’ve since studied Yin & Ayurveda with The Yoga People, Assisting Techniques with Sunday School Yoga and Trauma-Informed Yoga with Ourmala. I am also a BSUPA paddleboard instructor and SUP yoga teacher, which I absolutely love! Yoga, on the water, under the sky – what’s not to like?! I love sharing the practice of yoga and any tools, techniques or little things that I have figured out along the way that can help others feel more connected to their bodies, to others and the world.

I’m a proud mum to 3 wonderful children, and a senior trained nurse with a 15+ year career history within the NHS. My kids transformed my life in so many ways and this led to my passion for nurturing, enriching and helping other women in their motherhood journey. My background is in nursing and caring for the elderly. I started my career as a care home assistant before I trained to become a registered nurse at Kings College, London where I graduated with a BSc Honours Degree in Nursing Studies. I’ve worked at St. George's Hospital in Tooting, The Croydon Community Healthcare Trust and Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal. My nursing roles have varied greatly and include: Orthopeadics, Elderly Hospital-at-Home, Palliative Care (the most beautiful experience), and also Pharmaceutical Research as a Senior Nurse Trainer. In addition to my nursing degree, I am also fully trained in Antenatal and Postnatal Education (both NCT and NHS). This includes Pre & Postnatal Pilates, Pregnancy Yoga Exercises (NCT and Wheel of Yoga Teachers), Baby Massage and Baby Yoga (Accredited by the Royal College of Midwives), and Birth Trauma Support. A full list of my qualifications is shown below. My experience and my love for facilitating group learning led me to set up BellyTots in 2018, to offer a truly holistic approach for supporting mums and mums-to-be through their pregnancy journey and beyond. I continue to teach Antenatal Classes for the NCT and the NHS.
