After her son was shot in the face one afternoon after school, Sally Chacatte, Founder and Chair of W4 Youth created the charity with the vision to build a youth and community centre in W4 to give the young people of the area somewhere safe to go and something good to do 7 days a week. This vision is soon to be realised as the charity is now in a joint venture with Ealing Council to develop the youth & community centre in Southfield Park by 2025.

Racket + Hope Founder Mary Ubah, an LTA-certified coach, aims to help underprivileged and unexposed children master every skill in the game of tennis. Ubah has personally seen dozens of talented athletic kids socially and economically impacted in their ability to pursue sport and her goal is, therefore, to bridge that gap by motivating kids to dream and believe in themselves. In addition to a coaching blueprint laid out by the Williams sisters, Ubah incorporates elements of fun and friendship into her instruction. Racket + Hope Tennis Academy provides all children who come to the courts with skills instruction at a low cost, enabling them unimpeded access and leveling the playing field for players of all backgrounds. By following the great success of Serena and Venus, Racket + Hope empowers youngsters to hit the courts with their racket and hope, believing they can become tomorrow’s professional super stars!

By placing an emphasis on the process as opposed to only the result, we believe we can encourage students to transform their competitive experience through paying attention to both their body and their inner process. This increase of awareness within the body and a simple non-judgmental ‘acceptance and allowing’ of whatever is there is the process by which ‘growth’ can happen. Based at the Ranelagh Club (Mount Eliza), we also run classes at North Seaford Tennis Club (Seaford), Wattle Park Tennis Courts (Surrey Hills) as well as homecourts.
