This talk will describe what is a brain injury, its impact in the medium and long-term, and review some of the research on what interventions are most effective to support good mental health. It will also share information about resources and services available to people living with a brain injury. The talk will be of interest to survivors of brain injury, their families, the general public, and health and social care professionals who would like to learn more about brain injury and mental health. · What is a brain injury · Problems people with brain injury might experience · How to help Dr Sara da Silva Ramos is Senior Research Fellow at Brainkind, a leading charity providing rehabilitation and support for people with brain injury. She is also a Visiting Researcher at the University of Surrey. Sara is a Chartered Psychologist who has worked in neuropsychology for most of her career. Her current research focuses on the outcomes of acquired brain injury rehabilitation and the use of technology to assess and support independent living skills. She is also interested in initiatives that promote the engagement of the public in science and research

The Care Certificate is a one-day, instructor led course in a fully equipped training room. Learners will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding around the 15 care standards. Each of the 15 standards have specific learning outcomes and assessment criteria. The Care Certificate provides care staff with the fundamental skills to provide a quality, safe and effective service. The course covers manual handling of people and objects which is a full day course using equipment. The Care Certificate Refresher is fully CPD accredited. The Care Certificate Refresher training is a full day, instructor led course in a fully equipped training room. Learners will update their knowledge, skills and understanding around the 15 care standards. The Care Certificate Refresher provides care staff with the fundamental skills to provide a quality, safe and effective service. The Care Certificate Refresher does not cover manual handling of people and objects. This is a stand-alone course, which can be booked separately. Care providers are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and as a result must meet the Health and Social Care Act 2014 (Regulation 18 Staffing). Evidence of training and understanding is provided to support providers in their evidence of compliance. Instructions Attendees to arrive on time at 9.30am and will leave around 16.30pm It is important that learners are fit and well to participate in group activities. Learners will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding around the administering of medication and the importance of record keeping.
