About the event We are pleased to be hosting a Doing History at University event for students and teachers in partnership with the University of Sheffield. The aim of the event is to introduce students to history at university, and how to make yourself stand out in the application process.  Sheffield University has one of the largest, most active and successful centres for teaching and historical research in the UK. It was ranked among the UK’s top three history departments for the impact and quality of its research, and its teaching is consistently rated as excellent. This one-day event will equip students with the tools to ensure that you have the best chance of studying history at the university of your choice. For a day packed full of helpful advice, workshops, mock interviews and case studies, plus sessions from the University of Sheffield history department and a chance to meet current students, this event is a must for students looking to study history at university and post-16 teachers looking to support their students.  Programme The programme will include:  Advice about admissions from the University of Sheffield Making the leap from sixth-form to university history What makes a great undergraduate historian How to make your UCAS application stand out Support for those applying to universities with interviews A sample lecture from Professor Julie Gottlieb A sample seminar with Dr Miriam Dobson A chance to meet current students Booking information Places are limited with a maximum of 5 per school. Course information Category N404 Safe Working At Height It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following: ➢ Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities when working at height ➢ Be able to define height work and identify the hazards of work above ground level and outline the general requirements necessary to control them ➢ Be able to identify accident causation in work at height ➢ Have an appreciation of planning and organisation of work at height ➢ Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions, identifying any overhead hazards ➢ Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for safe working at height use ➢ Demonstrate working at height and explain all safety issues that could arise Assessment Assessment will be to NPORS standards consisting of a theory test.

A Warm Welcome to Ludo Tutors Founded in 2017 by Martha, a Dyslexic and Dyspraxia graduate from Cambridge University (Education with English and Drama, BA MA Cantab), Ludo Tutors was created to provide students with a holistic, well-rounded education and excellent quality Tutors. We have over 150 Tutors on our books and tutor everything from Academic subjects (such as 11+ Exams, Key Stage Three Science, GCSEs and A Levels) through to LAMDA Drama, Shakespeare and Public Speaking Exams). What are 11+ / Entrance Exams? 11+ Exams, sometimes called 'Entrance Exams', are examinations that many UK private schools. The rare usually competitive and a bit daunting! Don't panic, though - we're here to help!  How do I take Entrance Exams? Different schools have different application procedures, timelines and expectations. Some will belong to a body of schools using the same examination papers, whereas others will set their own, independent exams. Many also charge an administration fee. We do not advise parents on the applications themselves, but we have garnered a depth of knowledge about 11+ Exams that enable our Tutors to workeffikiently and effectively, whilst still keeping their students engaged and in good spirits. Who are your Tutors? Over half of our Tutors studied at either Oxford or Cambridge University and many hold PGCEs or TEFL/CELTA qualifications. All Tutors are Enhanced DBS checked. We interview each Tutor personally, to get to know them and to find our students the best match. What 11+ experience do you have? Our Founder, Martha, has extensive experience preparing students for the UK's top independent school exams, with many of her students achieving their first choice school, if not also a scholarship - lovely! This work is now carried out by our experienced and friendly tutors, with input from Martha if, as and when they may need extra support.
