Robyn is a Bristol-based director, teacher and performer. With over 20 years experience she is a passionate practitioner of clowning, physical theatre, circus and street arts. She has a MA in Circus Directing, a Diploma of Physical Theatre Practice and trained with a long line of inspiring teachers including Holly Stoppit, Peta Lily, Giovanni Fusetti, Jon Davison, Zuma Puma and Deanna Fleysha. Robyn has collaborated with companies including Let’s Circus, The Sexual Health Circus and Whispering Wood Folk and performed with acclaimed physical theatre companies including, Derevo, Akhe, Oceanallover, and Gappad as well as her own award-winning company, Fun in the Oven Theatre. During the pandemic in 2020, Robyn set up The Online Clown Academy with Holly Stoppit and developed a series of Zoom Clown Courses. Robyn’s research, started during her Masters, has been exploring the meeting point of clowning and activism, online, in the real world and with international collaborators. With this drive to explore political edges of her work she has also dived back into the world of the Bouffon; training with Jaime Mears, Bim Mason, Nathaniel Justiniano, Eric Davis, Tim Licata, Al Seed and the grand master Bouffon-himself; Philippe Gaulier. She has also set up the Laboratory of the Un-beautiful; a collaboration with Deborah Antoinette Bard, exploring the bouffon & grotesque with womxn theatre makers.

Peak Upholstery and furnishings is run and managed by Angie Britton, on the outskirts of the small town of Matlock, in Derbyshire. Angie has been making bespoke (made to order) soft furnishings and loose covers since the late '80's and upholstery since the mid '90's. She has professional qualifications in upholstery and loose cover making plus teaching qualifications and plenty of experience of teaching adults in these subjects. As a teacher she feels strongly that when you are learning something new it is important to undertake a project that you can complete on the course and one that is not beyond your level of skill - it is no use deciding to make a loose cover, if you have never sewn anything since you left school! It is also important to return home with your newly learnt skills and continue to use them. Try to make sure that on your return home there are similar projects waiting to be undertaken. The courses are aimed at students of all skill levels, from those wanting to start their own business, to those just wanting to improve the quality of what they make in their own home and from those who have never sewn at all, to those who are already accomplished but want to extend their knowledge.

The first lesson with Jack was awesome! Made me feel incredibly welcome, and at ease. He explained the fundamentals of the lesson, how lessons are structured going forward and taught in a clear, easy-to-understand manner. Worked at the pace I felt comfortable with, offered advice on how to improve, and made me feel confident in what I was doing. So pleased I found him as my new teacher! Excited for the next lesson and more! BEN Had a lesson with Jack! This was my first time playing the drums and was a Christmas present. I have always wanted to try and see if I could play. Well, Jack was very patient and very good at breaking down the basics, he showed different ways of learning so depending on how you as an individual learn, Jack has a teaching method to help you. By the end of the lesson, I was playing along to the music which surprised me. I really felt a sense of accomplishment at the end of the lesson and that is all down to Jack and the way he teaches! DEAN I started my drumming lessons with Jack and I have nothing but praise for his work. He's very patient, encouraging, and paces the class perfectly. His classes are motivating, interesting and a lot of fun. I'd highly recommend.
