I discovered Pilates in my twenties after being diagnosed with a herniated disc in the lower back. The specialist consultant advised that a program of prescriptive pilates exercises would manage the condition, prevent pain and more importantly avoid future operations. I have been practicing Pilates ever since and I am an advocate of its benefits which include supporting life-long medical conditions, injury prevention and managing stress. I was trained by Cherry Baker, one of the UK’s Leading Pilates practitioners. I hold the highest qualification available in mat based Pilates and have been teaching for over 15 years. Following the success of Poynton Pilates I'm now running new classes at Bramhall Pilates. About Modern Pilates Modern Pilates is a respected and reputable training organisation and is trusted within the industry. Modern Pilates brings Joseph Pilates’ Classical approach into the 21st century by combining his principles with recent research. This clinical approach has been devised by physiotherapists and Modern Pilates was instrumental in the development of Pilates training courses in the UK. Modern Pilates was the first organisation in the UK to gain YMCA Qualifications approval. What is the difference between Classical, Contemporary and Modern Pilates? Classical Pilates follows as closely as possible to Joseph Pilates' original work, his exercises and the order in which they were performed Contemporary Pilates is based partly on Joseph Pilates' work but with modifications to the exercises so that they fit with modern research Modern Pilates is unique as it offers Contemporary Pilates with a clinical approach as the exercises have been designed in conjunction with physiotherapists and recent research. I specialise in providing complementary therapy services.  These include Yoga, Bowen, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Kinesiology,  Reflexology and Reiki.  I am based in Cheadle Hulme covering the North Cheshire and South Manchester area. I have always had an interest in Natural Health even from an early age.  After years of working in a corporate environment and seeing the stresses and strains it placed on the body, health and wellbeing I was confident that I needed a change of direction. The ideal opportunity came when my son started school.  This was when I decided to retrain as a therapist.  Within 6 weeks of starting my course I discovered I was pregnant with my daughter – who said that stress doesn’t affect fertility!! I completed the first year of my course, gave birth to my daughter in the summer and continued with the second year with baby in tow.  I still however managed to achieve a college award and distinctions in my HND in Health and Complementary Therapies.  The course gave me a fantastic grounding in all aspects of working in a therapeutic environment.  This included counselling skills; psychology; sociology; diet and nutrition; anatomy and physiology. I also became qualified  Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage and Indian head Massage. My knowledge and determination has never wavered.   I love learning new skills, therapies and gaining new knowledge. Since qualifying in 2005 I have become qualified as a Reiki master; Advanced Bowen practitioner; Baby Massage instructor; Kinesiologist to diploma level and also hold qualifications in Pregnancy Massage; Tibetan Acupressure Head Massage; Natural face Lift Massage and Mindfulness. I am also enhancing my lifelong love of Yoga and have trained as a Yoga Teacher to enhance the treatments I can offer you. Having recently seen the devastating mental health issues after two years of coronavirus and lockdowns I also wanted to offer a supportive service to help with this too so embarked on an amazing Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy course which I completed in 2022.  I am so pleased to be able this awesome modality to my therapy arsenal. Customer service is very important to me and I try to follow up each client’s treatment. Also maintaining and updating my training regularly helps me add additional skills and knowledge to help you receive the best help and advice I can give.

On behalf of the Ashdown Elementary School (AES) staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. AES is a kindergarten through fifth-grade campus. With this change, there will be a lot of familiar faces, as well as some new ones. One thing that did not change is the hard work that our staff will put in to provide our students with a safe learning environment where our students will be successful! One of the greatest resources at AES is the parents/guardians of our students. Communication is the key factor in building the bond between the school and parents/guardians. Most importantly, register to receive messages through Remind from your child’s teacher. At AES, the staff works diligently to see all students succeed. Each day, students will be given opportunities to demonstrate their strengths through activities that are both engaging and challenging. Teachers will give guided instruction as students complete these activities to ensure their success. I know that with the many changes and adjustments we had to do during the last school year, there will still be adjustments to our schedules and activities this year. We plan to make every effort to keep our parents notified as changes are made. My focus is on your child’s safety as we move forward while following district, state, and federal guidelines.

Apparently "ballerina" was code for business owner because now she teaches art in her own studio. Her path included earning an art degree from High Point College (now university), many years spent as an art director for print media, and many more teaching preschool locally. She founded Outside the Lines Art Studio in 2011 to share her belief in the transformative power of visual art with her community. An artist who has spent time exploring an art medium thoroughly may or may not produce a masterpiece worthy of professional framing and prominent display, but they will certainly produce something they are proud of, independent of others’ opinions. They will have expressed themselves to their own satisfaction. They will have experienced something new and learned from it. They will feel more self-assured and confident. Hi I’m Kate, I set up Sew Creative in 2016, however a lot of my customers are often surprised to hear that I haven’t always loved sewing - in fact I even paid one of my friends to sew my Year 7 Textiles project for me, then ditched the subject as soon as I was allowed in the following year! I eventually learnt to sew when I made the decision to study Fashion Design in Manchester. After my degree I worked in the fashion industry in both London and New York, before heading back up North to train to be a Textiles teacher and settle in Altrincham. Whilst teaching, I started to advertise sewing classes - it was originally just a way to earn a little extra money. I started on a table in Hobbycraft with a couple of old machines and some bits and pieces from my personal fabric stash. I sat there for several weeks, with no customers or interest, and was about to give up when Sue (now a member of staff!), my first ever customer, approached me asking if I’d teach her how to make her own patterns - and Sew Creative was born! Alex MANAGER Alex joined the Sew Creative team having left teaching in February 2020, just two weeks before the first National Lockdown! When she was a teacher, she taught social science, so sewing was a bit of a change! Alex sews most of her own clothes and can usually be found wearing at least one me-made item in store during the week. Alex teaches our adult classes as well as our teenagers. She is also the shop’s manager, so if you need anything, she is always happy to help! I'm almost 6ft tall so finding ready to wear trousers and dresses the right length has always been a challenge.Now I just make them to fit my body rather than the other way around!" Dawn TUTOR Dawn has been with us at Sew Creative for two years now and has become the heart and soul of the shop. Dawn is our resident neat-freak so she keeps us all nice and ship-shape. Dawn has been sewing for years and regularly makes herself gorgeous dresses and coats. Dawn can be found teaching our adults on a Tuesday and our Saturday classes. She is warm of heart and always up for a good natter! Jayne TUTOR Jayne joined Sew Creative in September 2020, in the midst of a Global Pandemic has has taken the rollercoaster ride like a true pro. Jayne’s career has been in lingerie design and she has worked with some of the biggest names in the biz! Jayne sews her won clothes, and loves making tailored trousers, she is always the picture of sophistication! Jayne works most weekdays and every other Saturday, teaching our kids and adult classes. She also teaches our Monday night adult lesson! George CHIEF EXECUTIVE George is the newest and most adorable member of the Sew Creative team. He’s not old enough to sew yet, but can often be found in the shop sporting a mum-made outfit. You’ll also find his full modelling portfolio on Instagram, where you are guaranteed a regular dose of cuteness. He keeps Eric and Dotty very busy and despite being so small, is always the centre of attention! We’re all convinced he’ll be the next Patrick Grant! Eric HEAD OF SECURITY Hi, I’m Eric. I can often be found guarding the front door at Sew Creative. While I might look big, tough and scary, I am actually quite a lovely chap. I love treats, cuddles, any food that you might be eating, and more cuddles. Please feel free to pick me up and cuddle me, instead of doing any sewing. I look forward to meeting you soon. Thank you. Dotty THE DUCHESS Hi, I’m Dotty. I am pretty shy, but if you’re quiet and gentle I will come for some cuddles. I can often be found sleeping in my basket, or following my Mum around - just to make sure that she’s still there! Volunteers and Party Facilitators In addition to our part and full time members of staff, Sew Creative also has a team of amazing volunteers who help us out every week. Lisa, Sue , Catherine and Liz can be found lending a helping hand in our kids and adults classes, alongside some of our teen sewers who give up their precious weekends to work with us! If you book a party with us, you will almost certainly meet our lovely party facilitators. Evie and Daisy have been sewing with us for years and as they have grown up, have proven themselves to be very capable seamstresses. Both ladies are excellent with kids and adults alike!

The Manchester Airport Academy is an employment hub for the airport and our business partners and is run in partnership with Trafford College. A one-stop shop for anyone interested in on-site vacancies, it provides free tailored training programmes to enable job-seekers to gain relevant skills and secure employment at the airport. The training programmes offer a unique opportunity to get onto the aviation industry employment ladder. Attendees learn the basics and the terminology needed to succeed at the airport, boosting their confidence when applying for a role. They also have access to current vacancies and receive unique support in applying for roles following the programme, including CV and mock interview workshops.
