With qualifications including MSc in S&C and British weightlifting level 1, my journey in fitness has not been via a so-called “normal” path. While I have always been involved in sport from a young age – being part of a football academy throughout my childhood and also playing semi-professional football as a teenager and into my adult years – it was a back injury that put me on the path I’m walking today. After various injections and finally a pretty big operation on my back, I found myself desperate to get back into shape. During this process I made the decision to quit my full time job as an admin assistant manager and study for my MSc in Strength and Conditioning – a decision which ultimately led me to where I am today. Many people will call me a personal trainer (PT) but I see myself more as a coach. I’m here to help coach people into making better lifestyle choices with regards to food, training and general lifestyle choices. I’m also here to educate my clients on how best to work out and explain the benefits all of these better choices make. Your fitness journey doesn’t have to be three killer workouts followed by chicken and broccoli every day. Nor is it my mission to push you so far in the gym that you’re throwing up. My job is to show you how you can enjoy your journey and more importantly sustain the changes you’ve made.

Our practise is all about connecting the body to the breath and the physical to the spiritual. We love playful and creative classes, building strength and flexibility whilst encouraging curiosity and self-care. Our studio is peaceful, light-filled, and well ventilated, carefully enhanced with a few vintage treasures and charms. We have everything you need to make your class comfortable and safe – mats and blocks are available, or you can bring your own. Hand sanitiser is provided on entrance and by the studio door and a rigorous cleaning schedule has been implemented. We want you to feel safe so that you can fully relax. All levels of students are catered for – we welcome total beginners and those that have practiced for years. Currently all classes need to be booked in advance via MindBodyOnline for Track and Trace facilitation and to reduce crowding at entrance. Swimming has always been a part of my life. My mum was a swimming teacher so taught me from a very young age. She also introduced me to the open water side over a decade ago and I was instantly hooked. I love everything about being in the open water; from seeking out quick dips in beautiful wild places, to pushing my limits over distance or in races, to swapping stories over steaming mugs of post-swim hot chocolate. I also love triathlon and have been lucky enough to stand on the podium a number of times as well as competing in five age group World Championship races, with a best place finish of 4th. I’m an STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach and Swimming Teacher, a Mountain Leader, and an RLSS Beach Lifeguard. I also have degrees in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience and Translational Neuroscience, and a keen interest in performance psychology and exercise for mental health and rehabilitation. I set up Swim Snowdonia to reflect my personal values and passion for all aspects of swimming. To showcase the many incredible and diverse wild swimming locations in North Wales. To provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for swimmers to improve their confidence and proficiency. To deliver high quality coaching to those wishing to improve technique, speed, strength, and endurance. My background is in social justice work and capoeira Angola, the combination of which has taken me to complete a PhD in anthropology and to live for several years in Latin America. I came to yoga around 2007 in my early twenties, but it was when I was living in a particularly challenging context, as I accompanied human rights defenders in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, that I developed my own daily yoga and meditation practice. This sadhana (practice) became my inner refuge, and the fire for my resilience, as I witnessed and denounced the injustice experienced by those around me. I honestly felt I would not have been able to deal with some of the situations we experienced, without the inner equilibrium, peace and strength I was able to cultivate daily on my mat. It was this experience, and the desire to make yoga more accessible to many more of the people who could most use these tools for self-and community-care and resilience, that drew me to teach. Following this call, I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. In 2018 I participated in two transformative 100hr immersions with my dear friend and teacher, Bex Tyrer, at the Yoga Barn in Bali – Yoga Philosophy and You, and Body Image, Identity and Yoga, which had an emphasis on yoga activism and unwinding the feminine aspects of the practice.
