Get to grips with this eye-catching leather (or pleather) long-stitch binding and have fun picking different coloured threads and decorative papers to give your book it’s own unique character.
This book makes for a great sketchbook, notebook or journal and can be easily personalised if giving as a gift.
We will create an A6 portrait book in this class but I will share how to scale up and down should you want to create the same style of book in different shapes and sizes at home.

In this class, you will learn the art of surface stitch and Goldwork. This design was inspired by a beautiful red deer than I saw in Scotland.
We will begin by stitching the outlines of the design in stem stitch. You will incorporate the split stitch on the outlines of the satin stitches. The satin stitch, straight and in an angle will be covered including how to keep the same angle and where to position your needle and at which angle.
In the second session, you will add the festive bow including learning how to do a french knot. Finally, we will practise stitching the essing with gold smooth purl.
Homework in between both sessions will be recommended to allow a smooth transition in the class. Finishing all the steps taught in the first session will be recommended. Stitching the stem stitch on the outlines of the design and stitch the satin stitch.
This class is aimed at someone who has knowledge of embroidery and would like to work in a contemporary design.
The class is pitched towards intermediate-advanced students and the limited class size will allow you to develop at your own pace with plenty of one to one time with the tutor.
Finished piece size is approximately 11.5cm (H) x 7cm (W)

<p data-key="115"><span data-key="116">Learning to crochet in the round is essential for all sorts of crochet projects - amigurumi, softies, hats, bags, granny squares . . . I won't pretend it's easy, but it's not as tricky as you might think! </span></p>
<p data-key="117"><span data-key="118">The 3 bears will be a fun introduction to the principles of crocheting continuously in the round. We'll look at magic rings, even increasing and the single crochet stitch (US terms). We'll also have a little go at other ways to crochet in the round, try some join-as-you-go and creating fancy edging using the single crochet stitch in reverse (crab stitch). </span></p>

Learning to crochet in the round is essential for all sorts of crochet projects - amigurumi, softies, hats, bags, granny squares . . . I won't pretend it's easy, but it's not as tricky as you might think! 
The 3 bears will be a fun introduction to the principles of crocheting continuously in the round. We'll look at magic rings, even increasing and the single crochet stitch (US terms). We'll also have a little go at other ways to crochet in the round, try some join-as-you-go and creating fancy edging using the single crochet stitch in reverse (crab stitch). 
Depending on your ability you can join me for Week 1 then finish off in your own time, or you can come back for seconds and we can finish off together the following week.

You'll need to have access to ZOOM and the materials listed below to crochet-along. This is a great make for absolute beginners, adventurous beginners looking to push their crochet to the next level, but also fab for refreshing forgotten skills or if you just fancy having a go. Classes are kept small so it's not too overwhelming and everyone gets plenty attention and the opportunity to ask questions.

a crochet hook that's around 1/2 the size recommended for your yarn

*:o) I used King Cole Big Value Super Chunky with a 5.0mm crochet hook (10.0mm recommended) for daddy bear. Mummy bear’s crocheted with Drops Andes and a 4.0mm hook (9.0mm recommended) and baby bear uses Drops Cotton Light doubled up with a 3.0mm hook (4.0mm recommended). If you're an absolute beginner I'd recommend going for a chunky or super-chunky yarn to start off with.
