The qualification is designed for learners who have responsibility for promoting health choices within the workplace, or who would like to get involved in championing workplace health. This level 2 course is delivered online across two sessions, both must be attended in order to achieve the qualification. Session 1: Introduction The importance of workplace health to employers and their employees The role of a Workplace Health Champion Factors affecting physical and mental health Session 2: Recap Key behaviour change principles The need to safeguard adults as a Workplace Health Champion Key elements involved in planning and preparing for a sport of physical activity session How to measure the success of a sport or physical activity session Tutor discussion / competence of qualification.
The purpose of these qualifications is to enable learners to coach clients – one to one and in small groups – towards their health and fitness goals. Learners will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to plan and deliver creative and personalised exercise programmes, provide nutritional advice and support clients with their overall lifestyle management.
Course Summary: This workshop aims to increase awareness of Safeguarding and Protecting Children, helping coaches to recognise signs of abuse and poor practice, and deal sensitively and effectively with issues that arise. It also prompts a review of coaching practice to ensure that sport provides a positive and enriching experience for children. The 3 hour workshop covers the following and learners will be able to: Identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for them. Explore their values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise how these may potentially impact on their response. Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of child abuse and poor practice. Take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise. If you require a group booking for your staff/volunteers, please select group booking to request a private group session. This option will require a minimum of 8 delegates. If we do not have 8 delegates the course will be rearranged for a later date.

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, NON-FICTION Donald Winchester began his publishing career at Penguin Press – working on a variety of non-fiction titles – before moving to A P Watt, then the world’s oldest literary agency. There he worked for five years with a number of acclaimed and prize-winning authors and began building a list of fiction and non-fiction for adults. He joined Watson, Little as an agent in 2013. Donald is building his list and is interested in literary fiction and well-written commercial fiction, particularly debut authors, as well as memoir. He is particularly interested in literary fiction which maintains a high level of prose, pushes boundaries of style, while retaining emotional heart and a sense of plot. He’s also looking for upmarket fiction which builds a fully-formed plot with a satisfying emotional arc, whether that be historical or contemporary – and the mixing of tropes from genre fiction (crime, sci-fi, romance, etc) also interest him. In non-fiction, he is keen to see writing on history, popular science, social issues, nature, music, sport, film and technology. In all these areas he’s looking for experts in their fields who can convey their expertise and enthusiasm to a wide audience in an appealing way. Donald would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 - 2 page synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript in a single word document. This qualification provides learners with knowledge and skills to apply reliable, evidence-based nutritional science and healthy eating recommendations. Learners will gain an understanding of nutritional science and their application to exercise, sport and athletic performance. This includes the limitations and risks of supplements and performance aids, and the importance of hydration for sports performance. Working within their scope of practice, learners will be able to support their clients in their understanding of the relevance of official guidelines to personal food preferences and needs, including for health and wellbeing, weight management and sports performance.
