I have witnessed first hand the impact that Therapeutic Sound Sessions can have on people from all walks of life, in all types of situations and circumstances. There is so much valuable work to be done in the field of Sound Healing and Sound Therapy. The use of Therapeutic Sound has many possible applications. It can be a simple but very powerful way to uplift and empower people in all manner of situations. As a Practitioner, I feel it is so important that we hold space for people in a professional and compassionate way, and that any work is carried out to the highest standards.    With this in mind, I have developed a number of different training courses to help you enhance your skills and take Sound Healing and Sound Therapy to where it can most benefit peoples lives.  Through collaboration, promoting high standards, aiding research projects, working with the health standards organisations and health support groups. I would love to see Sound Therapy take a larger role as a mainstream Complementary Medicine. This is a fundamental aim of The Sound Therapy Company. Since 2015 YSWN has established a network for women and girls interested in gaining skills and confidence in music and sound technology. We’re growing all the time, with several affiliated groups across Yorkshire – and as far afield as Malta – who provide a place for sharing skills and advice, finding mentors, making friends and building communities. In addition, we run a host of projects devoted to education, network-building and artistic development. We also work with the audio industry to promote equality, tackle discrimination and increase opportunities for women and people of non-binary genders. Our workshops offer hands-on experiences in DJ-ing, live coding, Ableton, soldering electronic instruments and much more, in friendly, encouraging environments. We’ve hosted inspiring talks by leading musicians and audio professionals – and we have our own podcast.

Rachel makes quiet works that evoke a presence or memory of a place or experience. Her areas of practice are influenced by sound, perception and time and how this is expressed visually and sonically. She works with a diverse range of mediums using painting, sound, film & historic photographic processes. Through creating work she intends to harness meaning and resonance which in turn invites the viewer to make their own connection to it. A UK based artist, she trained in both design and fine art at Manchester and Leeds Arts Universities. This multi disciplinary approach provides a lens through which to view and reflect upon themes of consciousness and being and how these reflections can be expressed visually and sonically. She has collaborated with organisations such as The National Trust and her work is held in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia.

Starting the session with a gentle yoga practice to help create ease and flow in the body, we will then become immersed in a rejuvenating gong sound bath, and “bathe” in the healing vibrations of sound.
