Charlotte has been teaching and hosting workshops since 2013. As The Silver Duck, Charlotte forges and creates a range of silver work and jewellery. <p>The 2-day stained glass course is designed for total beginners to design &amp; create a stained glass panel (40cm x 40cm). I ensure the course is fun, while also giving you the chance to learn a new skill. During the first day, you'll create a design, then cut &amp; paint the glass. We usually provide designs / patterns, but you can also bring your own. We can discuss this prior to the course. On the second day, you'll learn how to do the leadwork, soldering, cementing, and then brushing &amp; polishing the glass. Finally, you'll fit the chain &amp; you can take your stained glass panel away with you.</p>
<p>I keep the stained glass classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots &amp; lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment &amp; materials are disinfected before the start of each day.</p>
<p>You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to design &amp; create the stained glass panel is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required.</p>

Ruth runs workshops teaching the skills of stained glass where you can create your own small copper foiled stained glass creation or unique sun-catcher which you can take home with you at the end of the day. Prior to the workshop we can work together to design your glass piece so your pattern is ready to be brought to life on the day or you can choose from our popular patterns on the day.

All workshops include materials, tea, coffee and herbal teas, free on road parking. 
Our garden studio is situated near the idyllic village of Rottingdean, Brighton with Kipling Gardens, Grange Museum & Art Gallery, Beacon Hill Windmill and Nature Reserve, beach, shops, cafes and pubs nearby
For the One Day workshop we recommend you bring a packed lunch with you although shops and takeaways are nearby in the very quiet and idyllic village of Rottingdean.


Please note: We ask that you wear comfortable clothing with flat covered footwear. Due to the materials used, this course is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. We use very hot soldering irons when soldering the glass pieces together
Finish times for all workshops are a little flexible to ensure your creation is complete on the day, so do allow for a little additional time if required.

This is a private course just for you or your group in Worcester and you can choose the date. In this whole day course (approx 10am-3.30pm) we will explore 3 different glass making techniques. Depending on the complexity of your pieces, you can usually make around 2-3 fused glass items of your choice including jewellery, coasters, hanging panels, tree decorations; 1 small stained glass panel (including copper foiling and soldering) and 3 pieces of enamelled copper jewellery (sifted powdered glass onto copper shapes and fired yourself in the kiln). You will be able to make larger and more complex work under the supervision of Richard Paton with over 30 years experience.&nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51);" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Richard will guide you through all the traditional techniques of designing, glass cutting, glass painting and assembly of your unique stained glass panel. You will be able to take your stained glass away with you and fit it into an existing window or have it mounted into a Lightbox. The size of the stained glass window can be anything up to a maximum of 80cm x 50cm. In this new course you will design and make your own painted stained glass panel. You will be able to make larger and more complex work under the supervision of Richard Paton with over 30 years experience. 
Richard will guide you through all the traditional techniques of designing, glass cutting, glass painting and assembly of your unique stained glass panel. You will be able to take your stained glass away with you and fit it into an existing window or have it mounted into a Lightbox. The size of the stained glass window can be anything up to a maximum of 80cm x 50cm. You will have the opportunity to discuss your design idea in advance unless you prefer to adapt an existing design.
