NRSWA Streetworks Operative The NRSWA operative course is for anyone who wants to undertake physical work on roads within the UK. Including excavation, back-fill, reinstatement, signing, guarding and using tarmac and cold-lay materials. NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor The NRSWA streetworks supervisor training is for people moving in to a supervisor role. A streetworks supervisor is only allowed to monitor the activities of a streetworks operative and cannot undertake any physical work. On every live site, for operatives to carry out work there must legally be a streetworks supervisor present. Please note: a person can have both the operative and supervisor qualifications which will allow them to supervise and carry out physical operative work at the same time. Previous experience of working on street works or on roads would assist the candidates but it is not essential.

The aim of the course is to improve the efficiency, health & safety, and knowledge of their in-house valeting operation. Combined with level 2, students receive a leaner version of our Level One detailing course, without the emphasis on self-employed business and marketing skills. It focuses instead on core skills employers need in a valeting team; Efficiency Safety Consistency and Results It can be taken by one managing member or a whole team, and is perfect for any experience - from new-starter to long-time member of staff. The day starts with a look at chemical knowledge and safety to ensure all employees know the precautions and potential effects of the chemicals they are using in their work - both to themselves and the materials they are working on. Coupled with general safety at work regulations and delivered by a certified instructor, this will ensure your due diligence and compliance are covered and educate attendees on the importance of chemical safety. We then move on to the practical element, working through all the stages of a consumer-preferred safe wash and interior valet, from inspection through to protection applications, all in the most time-efficient manner possible to deliver showroom results, with demonstration and involvement in all stages and time management to ensure a constant and predictable workflow. By the end of the Stage 1 day, attendees will be well versed in all aspects of basic valeting skills and can either return to implement their new skill set or progress to Stage 2 to enhance the value further. Courses can be attended by up to 6 employees at a time, and for 3+ attendees the day can be run remotely at your own premises, subject to a few additional costs. Introduction: “Co-ordinating the temporary works process” This two day course is designed to assist those on site who have responsibility for managing all forms of temporary works. It is also designed to give confidence to senior management and those who engage contractors have reached an assessed standard of knowledge. The course has the support of a number of organisations: Temporary Works Forum CECA, UKCG, HSE and FMB. The support of these organisations offers transferability of the course within industry.Temporary works are usually safety and business-critical and require careful co-ordination. An accepted way of achieving this is through the adoption of the management process outlined in BS5975, which introduces the temporary works co-ordinator (TWC) as a key figure. This course explains the role and the overall management context within which it sits.High risk can occur on small as well as larger sites hence understanding the essentials of good safety risk management, as outlined in BS5975, is relevant for projects of all sizes. This course will give the delegate thorough knowledge of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator role however this does not alone make a delegate competent, as this requires other attributes e.g. experience. Aims and Objectives: This course is not a temporary works awareness course. It is only concerned with the process of co-ordination of temporary works, commonly expressed through the role of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator. Attendance does not confer competency as a Temporary Works Co-ordinator.The course gives emphasis, throughout, to: – The importance of communication, co-ordination, co-operation and competency. The ‘4Cs’. – Risk management: safety and also business relatedAllowing the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) to: – Understand the need for and duties of a TWC – Understand the role of others – Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of BS5975 in respect of this role. Assessment: The method of assessment will be by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course as well as being expected to be interactive during the course.Course Attendance:Delegates are required to attend both sessions, since without full attendance and achievement in the examination the Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Course cannot be made.Delegates must attend the days in order and, where not on consecutive days, must complete the course within two weeks. Delegates unable to attend both days due to extenuating circumstances (e.g. certificated sickness) will need to enrol onto a new course in order to maintain continuity of learning outcomes and attend both days again. It is expected that experienced and competent Temporary Works Co-ordinators will attend this course. Competence comes from a mixture of education, training and experience and should be judged by an appropriate senior individual, usually referred to as the Designated Individual (DI). Training is considered an essential element of Temporary Works Co-ordinator competence. Background Publications: This course, including its group work and exercises, is constructed around BS5975:2008 +A1:2011. For Open Courses Delegates should bring a copy with them in order not to be significantly disadvantaged. For in house courses it is expected that the Tutor will tailor the course around the organisation procedures,providing they are comprehensive and follow the philosophy of BS5975. In these cases delegates will need a copy of their own procedures. In the absence of adequate procedures delegates will need a copy of the BS itself.Although the following is not mandatory, delegates may find the following useful– BS EN12811-1:20031 Temporary works equipment. Course Details Please note there is an additional charge for both OP & Sup units needing to be completed via re-assessment, please call the YCDI team if you are unsure - 01782 438813. If your streetworks card is about to or has already expired, you will need to take a NRSWA reassessment course. You are not able to work on a streetworks site with expired certificates. You can take reassessments at anytime before your certificates expire and the remaining time left before expiry is now added to your new card. For example, if you take your reassessment with 6 months still remaining, it will be added to your new card when you receive it, resulting in 5 years and 6 months on your card expiry. If you completed your NRSWA Operative or Supervisor course with us, we will advise you that you will need to complete the reassessment course within 3 months of the expiry date.
