Claire Andrews Dance Academy was established in 2016 in Beaconsfield. We provide fun, friendly, energetic dance classes to all age groups. We want to encourage people to love to dance and have fun with their friends, whilst learning technique and developing an understanding of rhythm, musicality and performance. We make everyone feel welcomed and at ease. In 2021, we expanded Claire Andrews Dance Academy and now run dance classes in the Aylesbury area, also providing after school clubs at Primary schools. At CADA, we offer expert tuition from ex-professional dancers and qualified dance teachers in the ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern syllabus, also offering Musical theatre, Street Dance, Acrobatic Dance, Boogie Kids classes, Contemporary, Singing, Teen and Adult fitness classes. There are a lot of performance opportunities within the dance academy, including our annual show, festivals and events in the local area. Both children and adults have the option to take an examination in their class, which builds on confidence, technique and performance. Classes are held in our fully equipped dance studio, including Harlequin dance floor, ballet barres, full length dance mirrors.

Pauline and her husband Steve opened their first Academy when they couldn't find anything that ticked all the boxes for their son, Charlie. They wanted to be able to provide performing arts tuition that was enjoyable, fun and would build children’s confidence. More importantly, they wanted to help young people to pursue their life's dreams, whatever those dreams may be, using drama to help children realise their potential and blossom into confident young people. To Pauline and Steve, the performing arts is more than just singing and acting and they wanted to reflect that at PQA. They therefore created a performing arts school that covers the entire arts spectrum, including lessons in Comedy, Drama and of course Film & TV. When 130 students turned up for the opening of the first PQA Academy, they knew they were onto something! Over 15 years later, PQA has more than 200 Academies nationwide and is the largest provider of Film & TV education for young people in the UK.

The Museum of English Rural Life is owned and managed by the University of Reading. We use our diverse and surprising collection to explore how the skills and experiences of farmers and craftspeople, past and present, can help shape our lives now and into the future. We work alongside rural people, local communities and specialist researchers to create displays and activities that engage with important debates about the future of food and the ongoing relevance of the countryside to all our lives. We were established by academics in the Department of Agriculture in 1951 to capture and record the rapidly changing countryside following World War II. The Museum is based on Redlands Road in a building originally designed by Sir Alfred Waterhouse in 1880 for local businessman Alfred Palmer, of the Huntley & Palmer biscuit company. The house then became St Andrews Hall of Residence in 1911, and in 2005 a modern extension was built onto the house for the Museum. The Museum was awarded £1.8million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in 2014 for the redevelopment of the galleries, reopening in October 2016. The redevelopment strengthens and renews our links with agriculture as well as enhancing our position in supporting engagement opportunities for students and academics across a wide variety of disciplines, nationally and internationally. The MERL and Reading Museum are currently in a strategic partnership as part of the Arts Council England National Portfolio 2018-2022. As Museums Partnership Reading we work together to provide cultural opportunities for Reading’s young people and diverse communities, through schools, volunteering, digital engagement and exhibitions. I run two different classes depending on your child’s age. Jolly Babies is from newborn up to roughly 15 months and Music with Mummy classes which are from 15 months to pre school age. Jolly Babies is all about having a little fun. The songs we sing are usually original but there are also some well known ones in there too. All the songs are short and very sweet making them easy to learn. Babies love repetition so each song is sung usually at least twice. In each class, there is singing in the main, a short percussion section where the babies get to have a play with some basic instruments such as egg shakers, bells, hand drums etc. Finally, at the end of the class, there is a very short listening section where we turn the lights off and have a cuddle with their special grown up. I usually do bubbles during this part too which they love. Music with Mummy classes are very similar but we introduce a theme each half term as well as a basic musical concept, for example, loud and quiet, short and long etc. For this class the children need to be confident on their feet as it is a little more involved than Jolly Babies. Both classes are 30 minutes long and there is a maximum of 10 children per class.
