Bring your overlocker to class and I will teach you all you need to know about threading it, changing it from 3/4 thread and back, changing the needles, adjusting stitch length and differential feed etc. I only have one overlocker here and in any case it is definititely something you want to do on your own, so you will need to bring your machine to this class.

LEATHER CRAFT AND LEATHER SEWING TECHNIQUES: WHAT IS THIS COURSE ABOUT? This is a theoretical and practical introductory group tuition during which you will be taught common, essential leather crafting and sewing techniques and understand how working with leather differs from working with vegan leather or fabric.You will be taught how to correctly use hand tools, how to sew leather by hand and understand the most common finishing and construction techniques used in bag and accessory making. You will learn about different types of leather and understand how to select the correct type of material(s) for your project. You will receive an overview of the technical aspects of working with leather and constructing bags and accessories such as inking, burninshing, marking, cutting, gluing, reinforcing, skiving, debossing and more.You will learn how to saddle stitch, select the appropriate tools for this sewing technique, and produce your own samples of work to take home with you.You will receive relevant, useful and informative handouts as well as lists of leather and tool suppliers. At the end of the lesson, you will have the choice to create a simple hand-sewn leather item, such as a simple purse or card holder, to take home with you, or to practice more techniques.This is a professional course delivered by a prototype maker and manufacturer, with the aim of providing an overview and hands-on experience on more common leather working practices. Learn how to make really fun and creative bowls from rope and bits of scrap fabric. I will teach you all you need to know and I will supply all you need to get going. It is SO fun and SO versatile! You decide on the shape, size and colours! This is a very practical and hands on class which will see you making stuff in no time. All tools, use of machines and materials are included. The class will finish around 1pm

Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting it to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. The class has a maximum of 4 people in it so you get tons of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regulary make their own clothes! I am passionate about teaching people about fit and we will talk about dart manipulation, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments etc. We usually all work from the same pattern but if you want to make something else because you, for example, don't wear dresses, I am very flexible.

Through this lesson, you will learn how to construct, sew, and finish some of the most challenging parts of leather goods making, such as straps, handles, zips, pockets, and more. By working on various shapes and structures, you will gain insights into the technical aspects of leatherworking, including preparation, marking, cutting, gluing, reinforcing, skiving, and more. At the end of the lesson, you will have experienced a wide range of techniques, worked with numerous tools, used leatherworking sewing machines, and produced samples to take home with you. In this private workshop, you'll learn the basics of knitting using a vintage knitting machine to create wearable textiles.  🧶What is machine knitting & who invented it?  The knitting machine was invented by Englishman William Lee in 1589 to make stockings. it's a very small manual machine that enables the maker to create fine, fast knitting. Machine knitting was one of the first major stages in the textile industry that led to the Industrial Revolution. It’s still in use today but unfortunately, it’s become a forgotten craft! So we’re here to bring it back! During this creative and therapeutic class your teacher Valeria will guide you through designing and making your own knitted artwork. You'll learn how to use the vintage knitting ‘machine’ and listen to the wonderful sound it produces as the needles move. The process of machine knitting enables you to have full control over your design. Many people find machine knitting therapeutic and relaxing as you can watch and listen to your artwork come to life. Not only that the results look like those of an expert (even for absolute beginners). 🧶What can you make? It’s smooth, quick performance is perfect for making a range of knits – from home accessories to stylish garments - knit long trendy scarves, and quirky tote bags in under 3 hours… Smaller items only take minutes to do. Valeria will work with you to design and make what you want. She has worked in a high-end knitwear design studio and as a fashion buyer and now she makes kids and adult knitwear @maluk_knitwear (maluk meaning little one in Ukrainian).
