Art classes are taught by our leader Marianne, after school Monday to Thursday as well as mornings on Saturday in our dedicated studio at 74 Church Road; drop-off outside. All artistic abilities are welcome and students are supported and nurtured to progress at their own pace which develops a sense of creative self-expression in a non-competitive environment. Our classes allow students to discover and experiment with exciting art techniques and mediums including mixed media, paper sculpture, pottery and painting to further the enjoyment of expressing themsevles through art.

allthingsraffia is owned and run by Claire Richards who has been working with raffia since the early 1990s when she was taught by a visiting Australian. With allthingsraffia Claire travels to several events across UK, to run workshops at various venues and also to run private workshops on request. Since the early days of running workshops, and allowing for a few years off to bring up her son, Claire has taught over 200 people how to make their own hat or bag and her enthusiasm for all things raffia has not diminished. Claire is also the author of Raffia previously published by The Crowood Press. Claire's mission is to make raffia craft accessible and fun through teaching, making and selling, and to help people create and buy beautiful, sustainable and vegan accessories and homeware.

We do this by delivering an engaging year-round programme of artists’ commissions, education and community projects. All of which feed into a festival of contemporary ceramics that takes place in Stoke-on-Trent. Initiated in 2009, the BCB festival has grown to be the single largest contemporary ceramics event in the UK. We present artworks from the UK’s leading ceramicists alongside work by international artists, in exhibitions and special events held across the city.
